The position starts immediately and is fully funded and supported, in part by federal grants awarded to Dr Butson. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of experts conducting translational research on several projects, depending upon aptitude and training. The applicant will have the opportunity to develop their research, publication, and presentation skills under structured mentorship from established faculty investigators. The work will focus primarily on developing novel therapies for patients with intractable neurological and psychiatric conditions using a combination of device development, computational modeling, and human studies. Depending on expertise and interest, the successful candidate may work on one of multiple areas of focus that are available. The postdoctoral associate will be mentored and encouraged to seek extramural fellowships and develop their own project ideas, in addition to working toward the lab's research goals. The newly created Norman Fixel Institute is part of a vibrant research community that includes biomedical engineers, neurophysiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuroscientists.
