Military Security Guards provide 24 hour a day security coverage. Days off will vary according to the shift you are assigned to. Journeyman level, experienced security work in support of a National Guard facility, armed security work providing protection & security for property and personnel at a Minnesota Air National Guard U.S. Military Facility. The work involves regulating movement in and out of the 148 Fighter Wing, enforcing regulations and rules, guarding against vandalism and burglary, assisting in building evacuation, applying first-aid, patrolling air base, HR-RTF 8.11.2009, munitions storage areas and aircraft parking areas, provide armed emergency response to accidents, incidents and other unusual occurrences, prepares detailed incident reports and maintains log records. Must have successfully completed any Military Police/Security Course that awards and Air Force AFSC, Army or Marine MOS, or Navy 9545 N EC or Master at Arms rating, or equivalent civilian type training. IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS TRAINING, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. **Minimum Qualifications** -All applicants are required to be armed in the course of their duties and must be eligible under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Individuals convicted of domestic violence are not eligible for hire or retention. -Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license (or other state's equivalent). *All applicants must obtain a favorable National Agency Check with Local Records and Credit Check (NACLC). This is further defined as the formal awarding of Army MOS (95B or 31B), Marine MOS (5811), or a Navy Master at Arms rating NEC (9545); Successful completion the U.S.A.F Security Police/Forces Academy Apprentice Course; Minnesota P.O.S.T Board certification eligibility, or civilian equivalent work experience or training. Proficiency and experience with: (1) Proper safety precautions and procedures dealing with firearms. (2) First aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator techniques. Specifically, these positions will provide recreation management education, assistance with resource protection, and manage public safety through collaboration with local conservation wardens (law enforcement officers) within the assigned area. 50% Provide education, outreach, and excellent customer service to all resource users * Educate customers on the safe and wise use of our natural resources and how to recreate safely * Communicate with the public (via contacts, education programs, etc.) to promote awareness and knowledge of natural resources and state properties * Educate public regarding natural resources rules; providing information and resources to visitors recreating within assigned areas * Develop preventative programs and activities to maximize voluntary compliance with rules and regulations using proactive, problem-solving and rule enforcement philosophies 20% Assist law enforcement officers (Conservation Wardens, sheriff departments, police) within assigned area or on DNR managed properties to maintain public safety * Identify and report public safety issues, concerns, and illegal activity * Resolve visitor issues and address low-level conflicts between users * Issue verbal warnings to promote compliance with applicable rules to ensure the safety of visitors * Perform off-road recreational vehicle checks and education 20% Training and Administrative Duties, to include completing required trainings and reports (expense, time and fleet, financial and business records, etc.) 10% Assist Conservation Wardens in educating users about natural resource laws pertaining to aquatic invasive species and diseases. Salary Information These positions pay $21.00 per hour and are in the Natural Resources Educator classification in pay schedule and range 15-04. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. Job Details This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.
