The Security Officer III performs highly complex (senior-level) security services work. The Security Officer III is the most senior Security Officer and supports the Security Supervisor with department goals and objectives. Work involves patrolling grounds; conducting initial investigations as needed; providing direction and/or assistance to patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities also include temporary switchboard duties such as answering the hospital telephone switchboard as needed, the fire alarm system, and emergency response phone line.
Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights and/or weekends.
This position may also be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on maximum security locations.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Patrol's hospital grounds to monitor and mitigate unusual occurrences such as trespassers, vandalism, and emergencies.
Monitors and directs daily activities and work performance of junior security officers as needed. Adjusts daily activities of security officers assigned to shift to ensure objectives of the department are met in accordance with directives of the security supervisor based upon tasks and personnel available.
Provides security to the hospital campus. Opens hospital gates as appropriate. Provides direction and assistance to visitors. Patrols grounds, inspecting and safeguarding buildings, properties, and equipment. Writes reports and documents incidents or events in and around the hospital grounds. Downloads video requests from the Rights Protection department.
Performs temporary switchboard duties as requested. Answers phone and calls from service via dispatch (switchboard) as needed, the fire alarm system, and emergency response phone line.
Checks points of ingress and egress, to assist in the prevention of unauthorized departures/escapes. Investigates and documents unusual incidents such as thefts, fire, vehicle accidents, unauthorized departures, and weather-related events.
During the absence of the Security Supervisor, performs administrative duties such as preparing the department schedule and reviewing reports. Represents the security department in meetings and events at the direction of the Security Supervisor or Directors.
Reports to areas when fire alarms sound, determines the nature of the emergency and resets alarm as needed. During an actual fire emergency, escorts the fire department to facilitate access and mitigation of impact to hospital, staff, and patients.
Provides crisis intervention, when necessary, assists staff with controlling disruptive or combative patients or guests, and escorts disruptive people off hospital grounds.
Operates State vehicles to transport patients, employees, and visitors on or off the hospital grounds.
Maintains inspection forms to ensure preventive maintenance and the safe operation of vehicles.
Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date to drive a state vehicle. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
Current CPR/AED certification preferred, willingness to be certified within 6 months required.
Initial Screening Criteria:
Five years or more continuous work experience in law enforcement, security or corrections required OR
Three years or more security experience in a mental health facility required.
Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility. Waco Center for Youth applicants must be 21 years of age.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, healthcare workers are considered to be at significant risk for acquiring or transmitting hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and influenza. All these diseases are vaccine preventable. As a result, state hospital policy requires employees be vaccinated according to their level of contact with individuals. The City of Kyle is currently offering a $10,000 hiring incentive designed to attract fully qualified TCOLE certified applicants. Applicants living more than 60 miles away may be eligible for a $5,000 relocation assistance bonus. TCOLE Licensed Peace Officers with two or more years of experience may qualify for our Lateral Entry Program, which allows them to earn a higher salary based on their service years and the following criteria:
(a) The candidate is licensed by TCOLE, or another state's law enforcement licensing entity;
(b) The applicant has a minimum of two years (within their 25th month or greater) of service as a certified, full-time, paid peace officer in a first responder patrol capacity or detective/investigator;
(c) The applicant does not have a break in service of more than 365 days between qualifying peace officer positions held during the two-year minimum service period or from the applicant's last date of appointment as a peace officer;
(d) Applicants with 10 or more years (within their 109th month or greater) of service from a law enforcement agency may be hired if the applicant has not attained the age of 56by the date the applicant submits a written application to the Kyle Police Department.

Under direction of a Sergeant, Acting Sergeant, or higher-ranking officer, the Police officer is responsible for maintaining law and order, investigating crimes and accidents, and protecting life and property throughout the city.
* Enforces laws; patrols area in patrol vehicle and on foot; issues warnings and citations for minor traffic and criminal offenses; apprehends and arrests suspected violators of the law; transports and books prisoners; testifies in court; makes business and residential security checks; directs traffic; watches for stolen property and wanted or missing persons.

* Maintains required certifications and licenses; meets the minimum training hours required by TCOLE.
* Testifies in civil, traffic, and criminal court proceedings, ALR and Evidentiary hearings, parole Board hearings and gives depositions.
* Must be able to work rotating shift assignments as required, which may include weekends and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and not more than forty-seven (47) years of age at the time of the testing date unless applicants have 10 years or more of service as a licensed peace officer from a law enforcement agency and if the applicant has not attained the age of fifty-six (56) by the date the applicant submits a written application.
Must have a valid Texas Driver's license and must be licensed as a peace officer or be eligible to be licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), as well as meet all other requirements of Texas Statue 143.023, City of Kyle Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
Must be eligible for coverage under the City of Kyle vehicle insurance provider; meet the physical and age limitations established by the City of Kyle Civil Service Rules and Regulation; and, Meet and confer agreement; pass an extensive background check; maybe required to pass a physical fitness exam; pass a physical examination including drug screening and psychological evaluation. Anyone who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or to others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.

The Security Officer performs complex (journey-level) security work and is responsible for maintaining a secure and protective environment at the state hospital by observing, taking action, and reporting incidents or security violations involving the patients and initiating emergency response as appropriate. Zona Facta Collective is seeking professional Unarmed Security Guards to provide 24/7 on-site coverage at a vacant warehouse facility in Nacogdoches, TX. Guards will work 12-hour rotating shifts (day or night) and are responsible for maintaining site safety, deterring unauthorized access, and providing a visible and reliable security presence.
Shift Schedule
Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Full-time hours (336 total hours of site coverage/week)
Holiday Pay: 1.5x rate on recognized holidays
Two unarmed officers scheduled at all times
Responsibilities
Maintain a visible presence to deter theft, trespassing, and vandalism
Secure and monitor the perimeter of a vacant facility
Stay alert and responsive throughout entire 12-hour shifts
Perform hourly checkpoints (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) using the TrackTik app
Perform 30-minute interval checks (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Report any lighting issues, leaks, hazards, or other incidents via TrackTik
Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and supervisors
Requirements
Valid Level 2 Security License (Texas) -
Valid Driver's License -
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
Personal smartphone with internet access (for use with the TrackTik app)
Excellent situational awareness and communication skills
Professional appearance and punctuality
Ability to work well on a team, especially during long or overnight shifts

DESCRIPTION
The Code Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and compliance of buildings and properties within the city. This position involves conducting inspections, investigating complaints, and enforcing local codes and regulations to maintain community standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent; some college or relevant certifications preferred.
State certified Code Enforcement Officer required within eighteen months of employment.
2 - 5 years of experience as a Code Enforcement Officer preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field.
A Valid Driver's License Class C is required at the time of placement and a clean driving record.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to building codes and zoning ordinances.
Knowledge and understanding of construction and property maintenance standards.
Knowledge and familiarity with legal procedures and due process related to code enforcement.
Knowledge of environmental and health codes and regulations.
Skills in strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with property owners, the public, and other government agencies.

MAJOR DUTIES
Conduct routine inspections of properties to identify code violations related to zoning, building, health, and safety codes.
Investigate complaints from residents and businesses regarding potential code violations.
Communicate with property owners, tenants, and relevant stakeholders to educate and inform them about code violations and necessary corrective actions.
Issue warnings, citations, and violation notices to non-compliant property owners.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
Provide expert testimony and evidence in court cases related to code violations.
Collaborate with other city departments, including the legal department and law enforcement, to coordinate enforcement efforts.
Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations to improve code enforcement within the city.
Participate in community outreach and education programs to raise awareness of code compliance.
Keep up-to-date with changes in local, state, and federal regulations and codes that impact enforcement efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
