Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities * The Security Officer is to provide a safe and secure environment for all of UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital properties. * Provide input in developing security procedures, which address the day to day physical security needs of the hospital. * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations; good public relations skills, including listening, providing clear explanations, accurate directions, displays a helpful attitude and answers questions in a cheerful professional manner. * Builds and maintains professional customer relations with patients, visitors, staff and physicians. * Work closely with and maintain good relationships with outside law enforcement agencies. * Patrols the campus grounds and buildings on foot or on mobile patrol in all weather and climate conditions. * Monitors persons accessing St. Luke's property and buildings to determine whether they are present for legitimate reasons. * Communicates daily security on-duty activity to the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) for proper documentation. * May be required to work as a dispatcher in the ECC if needed.
