As a Senior Professional ElectricalEngineer, you will:
With general direction, create basic to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security, and other similar calculations.
Develop white papers and technical documentation to support the firm's technical knowledge Management (TKM).
Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.
Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge management TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices. Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
Perform other duties as required.
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Composite Design Engineer will lead the development and design of FRP (fiber-reinforced polymer composite products for infrastructure applications. This engineer leader will utilize their strong background in composite materials and processes, particularly in closed molding methods such as RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) and vacuum infusion, structural engineering capabilities and knowledge of infrastructure and related codes to develop infrastructure products like tanks, buildings, and structural covers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and KRA (Key Result Areas):
* Safety/Culture

* Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and development of FRP composite products for infrastructure applications.
* Collaborate with the Composite Sales Manager to develop tailored design solutions for customer projects.
* Collaborate with the Composite Sales Manager to identify new product development opportunities and cultivate strategic OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) relationships that drive innovation and long-term business growth.
* Drive value engineering initiatives to enhance design efficiency and reduce cost.
* Oversee and optimize manufacturing processes, especially closed molding techniques (RTM, vacuum infusion).
* Collaborate on material selection, including resins, reinforcements, core materials, adhesives, and coatings.
* Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC (International Building Code), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials), ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), etc.) to ensure code compliance in structural designs.
* Perform structural analysis and guide product testing and validation.
* Work closely with the retiring engineer through a transition period to absorb institutional knowledge, processes, and legacy designs.
* Support cross-functional teams including production, QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control), sales, and product and project management.
* Interface with customers, certification agencies, and third-party engineers as needed.
* Represent the company at key composite industry events (e.g., trade shows, technical conferences) to stay current with industry trends and strengthen professional networks.
* Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in composite product design ( 10 + years preferred).
* Expertise in closed-mold composite processes
* Strong structural engineering capabilities and working knowledge of composite materials - resins, fibers, cores, adhesives, etc.
* Familiarity with infrastructure products and relevant codes and standards for infrastructure (IBC, ACI (American Concrete Institute), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction), ASCE, AASHTO, ASTM).
* Proficiency in 3D modeling CAD (Computer-aided design) (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.). SolidWorks preferred.
* Proficiency in structural analysis tools desired, but not required (e.g., FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software like ANSYS (Engineering Simulation Software), SolidWorks Simulation, or similar).
* PE (Professional Engineer) license is highly beneficial but not required.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Excellent communication skills and documentation practices.
* Ability to be flexible and change priorities with little notice.

Market Intelligence - Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to shape Orenco's control panel product strategy.
Component Optimization - Work with procurement and supply chain to identify, negotiate, and select high-quality, cost-sensitive components, balancing price, availability, and performance.
Cost vs. Value Analysis - Work with cost accounting to evaluate aggregate control panel costs, factoring in labor savings from automation, ensuring that higher-cost components are justified by improved efficiency and scalability.
Vendor and Supplier Relations - Partner with procurement to negotiate pricing, secure supply chains, and establish long-term partnerships with key component manufacturers.
Rapid Prototyping and Customer Solutions - Lead rapid prototyping efforts for control panels utilizing new component configurations, ensuring feasibility before full production. Collaborate with the engineering team to evaluate new customer and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) needs, providing value-engineered solutions that optimize design, cost, and manufacturability. Support customers in scaling their panel volume, ensuring that Orenco's control solutions help drive efficiency, reliability, and business growth for their operations.
(Note: This is distinct from R&D (Research and Development) projects focused on new Orenco-developed software or hardware.)
New Product Introduction - Work closely with engineering and production teams to successfully integrate new component configurations into Orenco's existing control panel product lines.
> Engineering Standardization and Process Improvement
Develop and maintain a preferred components library, streamlining engineering design and manufacturing workflows.
Collaborate with Quality Control to establish best practices, failure analysis protocols, a feedback loop, and preventive measures to reduce defects and production errors.
Enhance engineering efficiency (EEC) by reducing customization bottlenecks and driving standardization in control panel design.
> Technical Design and Continuous Improvement
Design and develop scalable control panel solutions using the EPLAN suite and integration with corporate enterprise solutions, ensuring reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
Ensure all designs align with UL508A (Underwriters Laboratory), UL698A, NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and other regulatory requirements, balancing safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Establish and manage structured revisioning and approval processes, ensuring design updates are documented, communicated, and implemented across engineering, manufacturing, and customer support teams.
Specify and select electrical components, sensors, drives, and instrumentation for control systems.

Act as the technical expert and trusted advisor for sales, distributors, and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturing), providing deep insights into control panel capabilities and configurations.

Develop and maintain a customer support knowledge base, ensuring field engineers and end users have access to clear troubleshooting guides and product documentation.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in electricalengineering, controls engineering, automation engineering, mechatronics, or related field required.
Additional coursework or experience in product management, business, or marketing is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum ten years of experience in control panel design, industrial automation, and product management.
Expert proficiency in EPLAN, including schematic design, component libraries, and automation tools.
Demonstrated experience deploying and managing EEC for engineering standardization.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a high-level position that exists to receive and interpret specifications for Orenco electrical products and services, develop and extend price quotes, design customized equipment, provide customer support, and promote and market Orenco's electrical equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops codes for programmable logic devices and Orenco SCADA systems.
Develops code for HMI systems.
Designs networked systems using standard protocols including Modbus RTU, TCP/IP.

Writes and reviews installation procedures for electrical equipment configurations.

Files all panel construction details of customer panel orders for future reference.

Receives and interprets customer specifications, determines customer needs, and develops

Obtains price quotes for custom components from suppliers.
Coordinates with the Purchasing Department to ensure prompt ordering of custom and non-stocked components necessary in building custom electrical control panels.

Provides continuous customer support of electrical controls and associated equipment throughout the sales, manufacturing, and installation processes.
Communicates with customers by telephone, and in writing.

**Skills and Abilities:**

This is a high-level position that exists to receive and interpret specifications for Orenco electrical products and services, develop and extend price quotes, design customized equipment, provide customer support, and promote and market Orenco's electrical equipment. This position carries strong emphasis on PLC programming and related automation tasks. This position is also responsible for developing, modifying and troubleshooting programs for Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500, etc.) using TIA Portal and
for designing and testing equipment for a variety of applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
> Design/Programming
Develops codes for programmable logic devices and Orenco SCADA systems.
Develops code for HMI systems.
Designs networked systems using standard protocols including Modbus RTU, TCP/IP.

Writes and reviews installation procedures for electrical equipment configurations.

Checks finished layout of custom panels to assure proper setup and design.

Files all panel construction details of customer panel orders for future reference.
> Quoting
Receives and interprets customer specifications, determines customer needs, and develops
product and price quotes. Suggests changes to customer's specifications to improve functionality as needed.
Obtains price quotes for custom components from suppliers.
Coordinates with the Purchasing Department to ensure prompt ordering of custom and non-stocked components necessary in building custom electrical control panels.
> Customer Service
Provides continuous customer support of electrical controls and associated equipment throughout the sales, manufacturing, and installation processes.
Communicates with customers by telephone, and in writing.
Travels to job sites, as necessary, to oversee or assist in electrical system startups, perform field modifications, on-site troubleshooting, or to support the Sales or Systems Engineering personnel as required.
Promotes Orenco's electrical panels by meeting with distributors, prospective distributors, OEM's, contractors and regulators, and demonstrating Orenco's products and equipment.

EDUCATION:
