Replaces malfunctioning controllers and conflict monitors. Locates short and open circuit conditions in wiring systems in traffic control devices and electrical streetlight fixtures. Prepares maintenance reports performed. * Installs and maintains signal heads, cables, span wire, traffic signal poles, and pedestals. * Exercises technical judgment in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally or through written instructions. * Supervises laborers and maintenance employees of a lower classification by providing verbal instruction, inspecting assignments for completion and accuracy, and coaching as needed. * Performs electronics repair work on a wide variety of electronic equipment. Inspects defective electronic equipment to determine malfunctions. Reads and interprets schematic diagrams and manufacturer manuals to isolate malfunctioning components. Work is subject to periodic review while in progress and upon completion. * Meets with contractors to provide information regarding work setup that a City employee does not typically perform. * Installs signs as necessary. * Responsibilities include being on call 24 hours per day on a rotational basis. * Performs all related work as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or GED equivalency supplemented by courses or experience in mechanical and electrical/electronic maintenance in the traffic and transportation field or related electrical field preferred. Possess an electrical license or equivalent breadth of knowledge and service, electronic certification, and International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician certifications. * Knowledge: Knowledge of the methods, procedures, materials, and tools related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including test equipment and testing procedures used in the calibration and repair of electronic equipment. * Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and oral). * Abilities: Ability to keep and develop printed and computerized records. Are You an Experienced Industrial Electrician Ready to Make an Impact? 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing electrical role. Associate degree in electronics, industrial technology, or equivalent hands-on technical experience. Proven expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms; familiarity with HMI systems and industrial networking.
