This role involves preparing patients, operating ultrasound machinery, and analyzing images to assist physicians in assessing medical conditions. • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations. • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. • Analyses; sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician. • Coordinates work schedule with Imaging Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage. • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care. • Assists with the daily operations of the sonographic laboratory. • Maintains a daily log of patients seen/completes exam billing forms. • Participates in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation. • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral or commercial agencies. • Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician. • Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established procedures. • Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided. • Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems. • Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required. • Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographic area/department. • Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member. • Provides in-service education team on requirements of sonographic procedures as requested by other members of the health care team. • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: • Minimum 2 years recent ultrasound imaging practical experience in a hospital or clinic environment. • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment. • Ability to evaluate sonograms to acquire appropriate diagnostic information. • Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt sonographic examination as necessary. • Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed. Experience Desired: • Experience with digital acquisition and transmission of images preferred. • Experience in or desire to learn general x-ray technician duties preferable. • Demonstrated knowledge of imaging practices. • Ability to evaluate, synthesize and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician. • Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team. • Ability to follow established departmental procedures. • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations. Education Required: • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology. • Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) preferred. • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate. • Current BLS certification. • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) preferred. Physical Requirements: • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements. • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. Other Special Qualifications: • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. • Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Responsibilities The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. * Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results. * Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data. * Records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure. * Creates a preliminary report for physician interpretation and review/signature. * Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. * Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action. * Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies. * Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable. * Rotates as needed to cover Sonographer absences. * Performs related and other assigned duties as directed. Qualifications Education: * Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent. * Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in OB/GYN. * Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements. * CPR certification required. Experience * Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred. Experience Industry: Healthcare Skills/Abilities: * Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment. * Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. In this position, You will perform routine and detailed ultrasound examinations for interpretation by the Radiologist using specialized ultrasound equipment mostly GE Voluson E10 ultrasound machines. This role will assist the interpreting physician and obtain, review, and integrate pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data with imaging records to achieve optimal diagnostic results. Qualifications: • Completion of a formal 2-year training in a school of ultrasound by the Joint Review committee required • Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography preferred • RDMS certification required/OB/GYN preferred • ARRT and CMRT certification preferred • 3 years' radiographer/ultrasound experience required • 2+ years of OBGYN Sonographer or maternal fetal medicine sonographer experience preferred. Responsibilities: • Perform high quality Basic and Detailed OB and GYN diagnostic ultrasound imaging exams in accordance with established AIUM and ACOG guidelines and protocols under the supervision of the Radiologist. • Should be familiar with 2D and 3D transabdominal Scanning, transvaginal scanning of Viabilities, Confirmation of Pregnancy, 76805 Basic Anatomy, 76811 Detailed Anatomy, Fetal Growth, Biophysical Profile, Amniotic Fluid, Subchorionic bleed, Vaginal bleeding in OB and in Gynecology, Auto Accidents, RLQ and LLQ Pain, Fibroids, Ovarian mass, ovarian tumors, ectopic pregnancy, abdominal and pelvic pain. • Training in Nuchal Translucency, Fetal Nasal Bone and Cervix Length for OB patients preferable. • Stay current with required CME and updated AIUM and ACOG Guidelines. • Be experienced in Cine-clips and Still images. • Reviews clinical information, including relevant personal and family history, exposures, and other risk factors. • Perform appropriate procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data for interpretation by the Radiologist or OB physician. • Document and process sonographic images and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician • Disinfect the probes and equipment between patients and disinfect vaginal probes using Trophon High level Disinfection. • Prepare examination findings and communicate clinical information and ultrasound technical findings to the Radiologist. • Follows the established chain-of-command with all communication within the clinic and department while portraying team spirit with all co-workers and department personnel • Perform or assists other employees in obtaining appropriate images and assist with performing scheduled equipment maintenance and/or troubleshooting equipment problems
