Role Overview:
As an SLP, you will develop and implement individualized education/treatment programs for students whose ability to communicate has been impacted by developmental differences, disabilities, or injuries. Key Responsibilities:
Manages and organizes specialized materials, equipment and environment essential to the speech and language program
Provides educationally related communication intervention for students disabled by disorders of language, speech or hearing in a variety of settings as appropriate
Assesses speech and language skills of students suspected of having a communication disorder and consults with teachers in developing IEP goals and objectives
Provides resources, modeling strategies and training to other team members in communication interventions
Communicates regularly the results of individual student assessment and progress with involved school staff (special and general education), parents and where appropriate the student

As a Pediatric Home Health Speech-LanguagePathologist (SLP), you'll work one-on-one with children, from birth to age 18, in their home environment, helping them build speech, language, and communication skills that will empower them for life. SLP's assess and treat children with speech and language delays - conduct assessments of patients' speech, language, functional communication, cognitive and social skills - and assess and treat feeding and swallowing abilities. We serve the beautiful state of Colorado. All our therapists have the freedom to decide the specific locations within the State of Colorado which they serve, as well as the days and hours they work. We do offer telemedicine options for families under specific circumstances. All employees must be located in the State of Colorado upon start date. This position has the opportunity to start as part time/after school hours and build to full time.
✨ What You'll Do:
✅ Assess and treat speech, language, and communication disorders
✅ Use engaging, play-based therapy tailored to each child's needs
✅ Work closely with families and caregivers to support progress at home
✅ Provide compassionate, one-on-one support in a familiar environment
✅ Administer age-appropriate speech, cognition, and developmental communication tests
✅ Collaborate with a team of passionate healthcare professionals with clear and timely communication - including other therapists, assistants, service coordinators, translators, and office administrators
✅ Refer clients to resources as necessary, including learning about resources and assisting clients to be successful accessing appropriate resources
✅ Maintain HIPAA compliance with all communication
✅ Attend mandatory staff meetings and other optional social gatherings to stay up to date on all policies and procedures

Missed visit notes must be completed weekly according to the script
License Requirements
· Current DORA and ASHA licenses
· Complete state mandated continuing education as required by DORA
· Report to OASIS any DUI, misdemeanor, felony convictions or accusations
· Maintain CPR licensure

Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.

Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation

Summary:
Speech-languagepathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication in children and adults. SLPs work with the full range of human communication in students birth-21 years. They provide training and education to professionals and families/caregiver.
Responsibilities:
* Provide services to students with a wide range of strengths and disabilities and cultural and linguistic backgrounds, from mild or moderate to severe and/or multiple disorders on an individual, small-group, or classroom basis to preschoolers, school-age children, and adolescents through age 21.
* Collaborate with and train other professionals and parents to facilitate students' academic, communication, and social skills in an educational environment.
* Collaborate with families, general education staff, paraprofessionals, and service providers. This includes areas such as accommodations, instruction, grading, least restrictive environment, data collection and assessment and meaningful inclusion.
* Consultation in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) schoolwide process.
* Develop goals, accommodations, present levels, and service delivery statements within Individualized Education Plan (IEPs) in collaboration with the education team and additional professionals when applicable.
* Attend and participate in annual review and eligibility determination/evaluation meetings including collaborating with the IEP team, student and family to create a plan that best supports student outcomes and determine impact of disability on educational access.
* Develop and implement an IEP for each student case managed by the SLP, monitoring dates for compliance. Includes coordinating all IEP meetings including annual, initial evaluations, re-evaluations and additional meetings for students on the caseload and maintaining compliance with IEP implementation.
* Complete documentation as required by federal, state, and local agencies including progress reports and EzEdMed medicaid billing.
* Complete progress monitoring and coordinate progress reports for all students on their caseload, including those at report card times and at IEP reviews.
* Collect and analyze data using multiple assessment tools, formal and informal for Initial and Re-evaluations to guide eligibility determinations and IEP development including behavior planning. Supervise clinical practicums and clinical fellowships, (optional).
* Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations; implements procedures and routines that maximize student learning; respond to student misconduct in a respectful manner using restorative practices; actively seek a variety of perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; and communicate and involve parent/guardians in all aspects of their child's education.
* Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices.
* Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
* Develop positive relationships with parents/families; encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents; provide proactive, clear and constructive feedback to families about student progress and work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students; and foster two way communication with families.
* Exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning; actively participate in the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and development of new strategies and techniques.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
* Currently hold a CDE Special Services Provider license or have licensure application in process with a School SpeechLanguagePathologist endorsement (must upload license or in process documentation to application).
* Master's Degree.
* Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
* The READ Act SB 19-199 (PDF) and SB22-004 (PDF) requires that all Colorado teachers who provide literacy instruction to students must earn a "READ Act Designation" by meeting specific requirements. If you are hired for a position requiring the READ Act Designation, you will be required to obtain it. Additional information can be found here.
Preferred:
* Knowledge and experience with a variety of age levels, ability levels, and intervention methodologies, including working with students on the autism spectrum.
* Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, however a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) could be accommodated.
Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
* Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Speech-LanguagePathologist, you hold a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Your expertise encompasses a wide range of skills aimed at improving speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing abilities.
Here is an outline of the primary responsibilities of a Speech-LanguagePathologist:
Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in individuals with communication impairments. Speech-LanguagePathologists use standardized assessments, clinical observations, and diagnostic tools to identify the nature and severity of communication challenges and formulate accurate diagnoses.
Treatment Planning and Intervention: Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient. Speech-LanguagePathologists design therapy sessions that incorporate evidence-based techniques and strategies to address speech production, language comprehension and expression, social communication skills, voice quality, and swallowing function.
Therapeutic Interventions: Implement a variety of therapeutic interventions to improve communication and swallowing abilities. This may include articulation drills, language exercises, cognitive-communication tasks, voice therapy techniques, fluency shaping strategies, and management protocols. Speech-LanguagePathologists provide personalized instruction and feedback to support skill development and functional improvement.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Assess the need for and implement AAC systems and devices to support individuals with severe communication impairments. Speech-LanguagePathologists collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to select and customize AAC solutions that enhance communication and participation in daily activities.
Dysphagia Management: Evaluate and treat swallowing disorders (dysphagia) through a combination of clinical assessments, therapeutic exercises, compensatory strategies, diet modifications, and swallowing rehabilitation techniques. Speech-LanguagePathologists play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient swallowing function to prevent aspiration and improve nutritional intake.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Masters Degree in an accredited SpeechLanguage Pathology program
Current license/certification in the state of practice

Responsibilities
Therapeutic Services
Deliver individualized and small-group speech and language therapy to students with IEPs across K-8.
Address a broad range of communication areas including:
Receptive and expressive language
Articulation and phonological processing
Fluency and voice
Social-pragmatic language and conversational skills
Design and implement Social Club programming for Autistic students using Social Thinking methodologies.
Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.
Develop, write, and update IEP goals and present levels of performance in collaboration with the IEP team.
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation
Provide support to general education and special education staff with classroom strategies and interventions for at-risk or struggling students.
Participate actively in student support meetings, IEP meetings, and family consultations.
Work closely with school leaders, teachers, and other specialists to ensure holistic support for students.
Professional Development & Growth
Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings and regular supervision with an experienced SLP team manager.
Participate in ongoing school-wide professional development sessions.
Engage with outside experts and Social Thinking consultants through monthly supervision and collaboration.
Take advantage of $250 CEU reimbursement and opportunities to supervise graduate-level SLP students.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
Valid state license or eligibility for licensure as an SLP
Clinical Fellows (CFs) encouraged to apply - high-quality supervision provided
Experience supporting school-aged students with disabilities, especially Autistic learners
Familiarity with Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking curriculum
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Bilingual proficiency (strongly preferred)
Salary: 78K-115K +
