Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Speech Therapist at Community Hospital San Bernardino, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you'll increase our patients' independence by helping them eat and drink safely, improve memory or cognitive issues, or communicate their needs and wishes more clearly.
No two days are the same here. Our Speech Therapists work with a team of dedicated physicians, therapists, and other health professionals to ensure a safe diet for patients who may experience swallowing issues by performing modified barium swallow studies. These patients have been through a trauma of some sort and most don't feel well. You'll ensure they won't be hungry while they heal and can bring tremendous relief to the patient and their family. You'll also do cognitive evaluations to determine if a patient can make decisions or if any communication issues result from cognitive impairment or speech impairment. Patients range in age from newborns to geriatric.

The Position: The Speech-LanguagePathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, and communication disorders. This role includes conducting comprehensive evaluations, developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and providing both direct therapy and consultative services. The SLP will collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, district personnel, outside consultants, and families to support student progress, ensure appropriate interventions, and promote an inclusive educational environment.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the SLP will provide case management, supervise Speech-LanguagePathologist Assistants (SLPAs), participate in school meetings, and plan, coordinate, and deliver staff training. The SLP is also expected to engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in the field.
This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Education and is primarily based in San Dimas, CA, with travel to additional school sites as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
The pay range we re offering is $42 - $50 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

A Master s Degree.
Valid CaliforniaSpeech-Language Pathology School Services credential or California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential with an authorization in Language, Speech, and Hearing.

Ability to learn and apply various district computer-based IEP programs - SES, SEIS, etc.

Establishes individual education plans for students and reviews IEPs at least annually.
Collaborate and participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, Student Study Team meetings and
conferences as appropriate.
Employs assessment procedures, techniques and standard tests necessary for thorough and accurate diagnosis and conveys pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
Provides a full continuum of speech-language therapy services to students who are in need of such services, including articulation and language therapy.
Provides consultation services to parents and teachers on appropriate speech and language activities, including training parents and teachers to use appropriate speech-language activities.
Required to travel to various school locations.
