Your Opportunity Stantec is looking for a Chainman/Survey Assistant to join our Community Development group. We provide our clients with a full range of surveying and mapping services. Through our work, we define land boundaries and analyze spatial data. You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Party Chief. You will perform land surveying, mapping and data collection activities. Your Key Responsibilities - Independently performs surveying assignments, making accurate measurements, and providing data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimension of land or land features. - Operates and maintains instruments and measuring devices including levels, Trimble robotic total stations, GPS equipment and data collectors. - Transfers survey data to the proper files in the computer network and acquires data for field use. - Loads vehicles with tools and equipment, ensuring materials are loaded correctly. - Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment. - May assist in preparation of survey drawings using AutoCAD or GIS software. - Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Senior Aquatic and Water Quality Scientist to join our Environmental Services practice based in the Sacramento, CA region. Your role on our professional consulting services team is to be part of an interdisciplinary team identifying and assessing potential water quality and flow-related project impacts on aquatic resources, evaluating avoidance, mitigation, and enhancement measures, contributing to large environmental documents, and evaluating field study results and preparing technical reports. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of accomplished senior scientists, environmental engineers, ecologists, and planners on a variety of complex water-related projects in California and throughout the United States. Projects include water supply and infrastructure projects including the Bay-Delta; dam decommissioning, hydroelectric relicensing and compliance; and river restoration projects. You will be responsible for participating in and leading multi-disciplinary groups to successfully and efficiently execute projects. You will present project activities and results in client and stakeholder meetings, cultivate relationships with client organizations, provide work leadership and training to more junior professional and technical staff, and provide technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on water resources and infrastructure projects. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Experience organizing, planning, and executing water and/or wastewater treatment and/or conveyance designs from pursuit to design and construction. - Experience leading, coordinating, and managing multidisciplinary teams involving internal personnel, subconsultants, vendors, and suppliers. - Experience with collaborative delivery projects working with contractors and vendors. - Strong client service, project management, and/or design management skills. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Passion for team building, collaboration, and mentoring. - Strong technical skills with at least one area of specialized expertise. - Ability to meet client expectations on project budgeting and quality management. - Experience managing or participating in market and strategic client relationship development campaigns and proposal writing. - Must have a good driving record and valid driver's license.
