JOB SUMMARY:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse, participates as a member of the OR team in planning, preparing, and producing a safe and effective OR experience for patients undergoing surgery.

Assists with application of dressings and transfers patient.
Assists with general cleaning of room and sets up next case as observed.
Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the workload and work as part of the team to finish the schedule as observed.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Participates in an expanded role of perioperative First Assisting. + Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.
+ Serves as an educator, mentor, consultant, and resource to colleagues and other health care professionals in relation to STFA activities and robotic surgery
+ Associates Degree in Surgical Tech preferred.
+ 1 year of experience required. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ CST Certification Required. Completion of STFA program and certification within 2 years required. **Duties and Responsibilities**
**Essential Functions:**
+ Provides primary surgical assistance to the surgeon during the operative procedure.
+ Assists in positioning, skin preparation, and draping of the patient.
+ Provides hemostasis, wound exposure, handles tissue appropriately to reduce the potential for injury, sutures tissue, and applies dressings to the wound under the direction of the surgeon.
+ Uses surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their design and purpose.
+ Assists in transporting the patient postoperatively.
+ Communicates information to the post anesthesia care unit.
