Job Description HRDI is seeking a Teacher's Aide to assist in the instruction of pupils and perform additional related duties as required. In addition, the Teacher's Aide will: Assist the teacher in the preparation and implementation of planning documents and the evaluation of student progress in academic and behavioral areas. Provide students with direct assistance in achieving success throughout the teaching/learning process and meeting individual academic and behavioral goals. Assist the teacher in providing students with a highly structure, safe, therapeutic environment that fosters cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials for the program. Provide instructional services in the computer laboratory, while under the direct supervision of a teacher and/principal. Serves as the chief source of information for teacher substitutes assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Immediately reports to certified staff any student behaviors, problems or special circumstances which are violations of the student handbook. Communicate effectively using the designated methods, with parents as necessary regarding student progress, behavior, activities, and development. Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the structure of the designated curriculum Inform the principal whenever a student's attendance is unsatisfactory; Provide the principal with an up-to-date copy of the schedule of classroom activities and lesson plans; Assist in preparation of reports and individualized plans for students and ensure that all paper work in legible and submitted in a timely manner. Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences. Perform such other professional duties as may be assigned by the principal. (i.e. Accompanies students on field trips as necessary.) Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students. Qualifications This position requires a minimum: High school diploma required One year of experience working with children (school-age preferred). 20/30 hour child development (preferred, but not required) Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or has obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
