Requirements
HSD or GED with a Certified Development Associate (CDA) Certification with Infant Toddler Endorsement is required.
Relevant work experience with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers required.
CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
Experience working in a non-profit is preferred.
Essential Job Functions
Performs according to the standards set forth by NAEYC, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee Day Care Licensing, and Head Start while performing duties within the kitchen and classroom.
Provides classroom coverage for Teachers when absent or out of the classroom; Assume responsibilities as the primary caregiver for one group of children for Teachers, including children with special needs when assigned.
Performs duties as a role model to clients and staff; acts as a mentor to families of children in a group.
Keeps Supervisor and Manager informed of programmatic issues in a timely and concise manner.
Works cooperatively with other staff to create a positive, enriching, and safe environment for children, families, and staff.
Assists program staff in delivering appropriate health, nutrition, disability, education, and family support services to children and families in accordance with program policies, procedures, and service plans.

Ensures communication with nutrition staff, health/disability/nutrition staff, and education staff in order to fulfill special diet needs.
Assists in the preparation and serving of meals to prep and serve meals in quantities according to menu and a number of persons to be served to make appropriate substitutions when necessary in accordance with USDA recommended daily dietary allowances and family-style dining requirements; comply with all Health Department and Porter-Leath requirements regarding food preparation, food storage, cleanliness, and kitchen sanitation.
Assists in maintaining appropriate attendance records, meal counts, etc. necessary to produce reports.
Conduct regular home visits and parent teacher conferences with families.
Assists with and conducts ongoing child evaluations.
Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

Protect the safety of children by implementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised at any time
Work closely with management to ensure program compliments Head Start Program Performance Standards.
Serve as a liaison between staff and parents; partner with parents in the education of their children including encouraging classroom involvement and home activities.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss children's individual development and progress.
Eat with and assist children with eating at mealtime to teach social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices.
Assist children in health and personal habits, such as resting, brushing teeth and toilet habits.
Assist the Head Start Teacher in record keeping; conduct and document observations, assessments and screenings.
Participate in staff meetings, committees, and training sessions.
Assist in the mobilization and documentation of matching in-kind activities, goods and services.
Work may require flexibility to stay until all children have left the program.
In cooperation with supervisor, develop and document progress on professional development plans.
Will be required to take the lead in the absence of a teacher.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Child Development Associate (CDA) or credential of a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
Demonstrated knowledge of the purpose of the Head Start/Early Head Start program.
Demonstrated successful interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; ability to follow directions and take initiative.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels, including students, families, coworkers, and community members.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Head Start Teacher, other staff, parents and community partners in the provision of high-quality services to children and families.
Proven ability to keep all information on families strictly confidential.
Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and on-line client management systems.
Must participate in professional development training including basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification as required by state licensing and HSPPS
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English and other languages used by children and families).
If in North Carolina, holding a Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Licensure preferred.

Physical Requirements related to essential functions: Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as sitting, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping. This also includes some duties that require repetitive action and motion skills, keyboarding, and computer use.

Job Description
Fayette County Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our Level 5 school system. The successful candidate will join a professional organization dedicated to student success. They will be expected to perform duties customary to an elementary teacher in PK to 5th grade. Those duties include preparing lessons toward mastery of the state standards, collaborating with other faculty, small group instruction, differentiating instruction and providing interventions, working with administrators and coaches to improve performance, monitoring students, and collaborate and communicate with parents and other stakeholders. Developing and administering assessments is also required.
An active TN PK-5 teaching license is required for the applicable grade level or the ability to obtain a TN teaching license.
