Reports To: Building Principal/Designee
Supervises: All job areas assigned by the building principal/designee
Position Goal: Supervision and support of students.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
2. Works with students in a supportive role under conditions determined by the instructional professional staff responsible for the students, but not as a substitute for or replacement of functions and duties of a teacher as established in the Code.
a. Enables and encourages students' independence.
b. Learns to effectively operate communication devices and other assistive technology required by students.
c. Assists with implementing students' Individualized Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans with fidelity.
d. Assists with implementing student' Individualized Health Care Plans, emergency plans and/or evacuation plans.
e. Assists with group instructional reinforcement, support students at teachers' direction, as needed.
f. Assists in providing feedback on student work.
g. Assiststeacher in promoting a positive learning environment. Supports and maintains individualized behavior management programs.
h. Assiststeacher with implementation of specific instructional requirements as indicated in the individual education plans for each student.
i. Assists with preparation of instructional materials as needed.
j. Accommodates materials under the teacher's direction.
k. Assiststeacher with gathering data for reports and paperwork related functions as needed.
3. Preschool Only: Assists students as needed, including but not limited to: lifting and carrying of students including on and off the bus; diapering; toilet training and assisting in the bathroom; feeding; and providing academic assistance.
4. Assists in teacher and/or administrator in supervision of students, including, but not limited to, loading/unloading buses, hallways, lunchroom, on playground and in individualized settings.
5. Participates in required professional development as designated by the District
a. Bloodborne Pathogens
b. Mandatory Reporter: Child & Adult
c. De-escalation
d. CPI & Restraint (determined by principal)
6. Operates school equipment such as Chromebooks, copier, communication devices, etc.
7. Required to attend 5 professional development days throughout the school year: 2 at the beginning of the school year and 3 as determined by the District during the school year.
8. Demonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality.
9. Assumes other duties as requested by the superintendent, building principal, or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be set and reviewed by the board annually.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated once every two years in accordance with provisions of board policy and the Employee Handbook.

CDA Training Details:
Initial CDA training will begin January 20 in Brookings. Classes will be held two days per week for two hours each day. Remaining required hours will be completed as practicum hours through May.
During the training period, work will be based in Brookings. Beginning in May, the position will transition to the new Flandreau Early Childhood Enrichment Center.
A two-year employment contract will be signed upon hire. If the employee chooses to leave before fulfilling the two-year commitment, funds will be reimbursed to the organization to cover CDA training, testing, and related costs (clawback provision).
Work Schedule:
Part-time employees are expected to work 20-25 hours per week between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.Benefits Include:
