    The Management Communication Center in the Warrington College of Business invites applications for full-time Assistant-In Teaching faculty with a focus on business writing. These Assistant-In Teaching faculty will staff breakout sections of the core undergraduate course, GEB2216, Professional Writing, under the direct supervision of the course's lead instructors. The lead instructor creates the curriculum, teaches a weekly lecture, and manages the Assistant-In Teaching faculty. The Assistant-In Teaching position: * Is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure accruing faculty position with a Fall 2026 start preferred * Is renewable annually based on satisfactory performance evaluations, funding, and fit with the Center * Offers potential opportunities for compensated teaching in the summer * Comes with full benefits The job duties for the Assistant-In Teaching position include: * Teaching/staffing four breakout sections per semester; each breakout section meets for one 50-minute class period twice a week * Grading students' assignments and providing them with prompt, high-quality feedback * Coaching students one-on-one in office hours * Working with standardized curriculum developed by the lead instructor for the course * Following the direction of the lead instructor, including grading/feedback guides, curriculum, breakout section lesson plans, course policies, etc. * Supporting and assisting the lead instructor with the course The candidates must have flexible schedules and be able to teach in the mornings, afternoon, and/or evenings. Additionally, Assistant-In Teaching faculty are expected to contribute service to the Management Communication Center and maintain professional qualifications by participating in workshops, webinars, and other professional development activities. Ideal candidates will support the established aims of the Assistant-In team while bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective to the curriculum. Support will be provided, including administrative assistance, workspace, computers, and other resources. To encourage and facilitate their professional development, Assistant-In Teaching faculty at the University of Florida are eligible for promotion through the ranks of Assistant-In Teaching, Associate-In Teaching, and Senior Associate-In Teaching.     The primary goal of the tutorial program is to provide student-athletes with quality academic assistance, beyond what they receive in the classroom. In order to accomplish this goal, tutors must perform the following duties: • Be able to understand and clearly communicate course content to the students • Demonstrate the ability to motivate and provide strategy skills for studying • Act professionally at all times and serve as a positive role model • Have the willingness to comply with UAA, NCAA and UF rules • Attend mandatory trainings • Maintain thorough knowledge of what constitutes a violation of the rules • Report concerns about students to the Tutorial Coordinator and/or Academic Counselor • Be flexible and have time to meet with students • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues and students MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Required Qualifications: 18 years of age High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) Be enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, PhD and/or working professional in his/her field Received a B+ or higher in the class(es) that the applicant intends to tutor Note: Faculty recommendation can exempt the B+ grade for engineering, science or math majors Have a GPA of 3.2 or higher Knowledgeable and proficient in subject area(s) Good time management skills with attention to detail when completing paperwork Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures or backgrounds *Please upload a current resume/CV and unofficial transcript when submitting your online application. How many hours per week will be required? Hours will vary depending on your time availability and student demands for your services. Where does tutoring occur? All tutoring takes place in The Otis Hawkins Center for Academic & Personal Excellence located inside Farrior Hall on campus. Hours of operation are below. Fall and Spring: Monday - Thursday 8am - 10pm, Friday 8am - 5pm and Sunday 4-10pm. Summer A: Monday - Thursday 8am - 9pm and Friday 8am - 3pm. Summer B: Monday - Thursday 8am - 10pm, Friday 8am - 3pm, Sunday 6-9pm. What subjects can I tutor? Tutors may help students if they received a B+ or higher in the course (faculty recommendation can replace the B+ for engineering, math and science majors). Can I tutor if I have another job on campus? Yes. The University Athletic Association is a separate entity from UF. You must complete UAA HR paperwork and attend a new tutor orientation even if you are a UF employee. How will I be notified if I am considered for a tutoring position? You will be contacted via e-mail if your qualifications match with our current tutor needs. Note: If you do not hear from us, it means your skills are not needed for the current semester. There is no need to resubmit an application since all applications will be placed in a file for future consideration. What happens if I am selected to be a tutor? If you are selected, you will be contacted by the Tutorial Program Coordinator. You will then complete new hire paperwork and attend a UAA new tutor orientation. You will also be required to attend a mandatory compliance orientation. During the orientations, you will learn about all tutorial procedures. We will carefully review application materials and match applicants with our current areas of need. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.
