    About Us: The Ripon Unified School District is committed to excellence and a quality education for all students. Our Schools: Ripon Unified is made up of five elementary schools , one high school and one continuation high school. Approximately 2,288 elementary students are divided between the five elementary schools in grades TK through 8. Combined, the two high schools have approximately 1,067 students in grades 9 through 12. Our Staff: Certificated Staff includes 150+ teachers and itinerants serving regular classroom instruction and special services. Support Staff includes 200+ employees, including aides, bilingual liaisons , secretaries, custodians, yard duties, and more. Our leadership team consists of 18 administrators. CLASSROOM TEACHER, ELEMENTARY Qualifications: Teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teaching Credential or the ability to secure a California credential Typical Duties: Determines Standards for and Methods of Assessing Student Programs 1. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. 2. Establishes standards of expected student progress for approval by the evaluator based on assessment of the pupils in each class. 3. Encourages pupils to think independently and to express original ideas. Teacher Competence Relative to Established Standards for Pupil Progress 4. Teach reading-language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, art, physical education and music to pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities. 5. Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. 6. Provides planned learning experiences, which facilitate pupil attainment of the educational goals and objectives of the district. 7. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. 8. Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupil's progress. 9. Participates in the evaluation and assessment activities required by the district, including periodic self-evaluation. 10. Cooperates with the evaluator in developing and implementing suitable activities to improve teaching effectiveness or other deficiencies. 11. Maintains professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. 12. Provides competent leadership in insuring that students meet pupil progress standards relative to the goals and objectives for each grade level as measured by the school administrator using the district's evaluation instrument. Performance of Adjunct Duties 13. Performs basic attendance accounting and business services as required. 14. Serves as supervisor, advisor or chaperone to approved and assigned student activity programs. Maintenance of Suitable Student Control and a Learning Environment 15. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior through proper control and supervision and the provision of learning activities which stimulate the interest and motivation of pupils. 16. Provides a suitable learning environment conducive to the development of the pupil's concept of self and positive attitudes toward learning. 17. Creates, with the assistance of pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. 18.
