The position will need to have attention to detail regarding setting up splice locations, termination points, splice quality, work environment safety and general fiber optic construction. Purpose:The Lead Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables. They work on lines, analyzing and optimizing their operation. Underground and aerial fiber optic splice/tester. Responsibilities: Fusion splices SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to initiate or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC). Occasionally leads crews, involving supervision of other employees. Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable. Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues. Reviews, interprets, and works with various maps, drawings, blueprints and testing documents. Performs daily testing and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment. Performs optical continuity and conformance testing. Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in underground, aerial and building work locations. Adheres to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles. The Rope Access - NDE Technician is responsible for carrying out standard rope access operations under the direct supervision of an authorized Level 3 rope access supervisor. The technician will use Industrial Rope Access methods and related equipment to access and complete a wide variety of inspection, maintenance and other industrial work tasks while on ropes or in difficult access areas. Technicians must have the ability to perform work that is physically demanding, have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate a large amount of new information. Responsibilities may also include rescue operations, technical reports and administrative tasks. Work hours, locations, shifts and nature of work assignments vary greatly, and travel may be required.
