Starting Salary Range: $58.03 - $58.03 Responsible for splicing high voltage and secondary network systems (power cables used in underground distribution) and street lighting. Fully capable of installing, splicing and terminating high voltage at 13.2kV and below. Locating and repairing cable faults of all kinds. Communicates with customers to promote a positive awareness of BWL responsibility. Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment. Within six months of the date of hire they must successfully pass the Michigan CDL skills/road test. Splicing requires sitting in awkward positions about 45% of the time and working in trenches, handholes, vaults, and access openings. Stands on uneven terrain about 35% of time. Pulling cable requires walking on uneven terrain 25% of time. Climbs ladders, stairs and ramps. Wire coding requires good vision in order to distinguish colors.
