Service Repair Technicians are responsible for providing high quality evaluation, troubleshooting, repair and testing of rail motors and gears in a factory and field environments.
What your day\-to\-day will look like:
Perform detailed inbound inspections of units and document findings accurately.
Safely operate and maneuver lifting devices, cranes, jigs, and assembly stands.
Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, diagrams, specifications, assembly procedures, work orders, and bills of materials to determine material requirements.
Troubleshoot and perform mechanical disassembly and assembly of motors and gears.
Conduct tests on repairs following documented guidelines to ensure units meet quality specifications and tolerances.
Complete all required safety training on time and actively support a Zero Harm culture.
Accurately report and document hours worked, component usage, repair reports, and expense statements in a timely manner.
Write detailed failure reports and include photos as needed.
Work safely in high\-voltage test environments.
Operate effectively in a hybrid factory and field environment, with up to 10% \- 15% travel required.
To thrive in this role, you have:
Associate degree, vocational\/apprenticeship certification, or 2+ years of relevant experience in an electrical or mechanical field
Hands\-on experience with balancing machines, induction heaters, dial gauges, micrometers, and electrical\/bearing insulation resistance tools
Mechanical motor and gearbox experience-or equivalent mechanical experience (preferred)
Prior component repair and troubleshooting experience (electrical experience a plus)
Strong problem\-solving skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with computers and software applications
Familiarity with Lean principles, 6S methodology, and EHS procedures
Effective communication and active listening skills
Ability to work independently or in a team, and adapt in a fast\-paced service environment
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
German language skills (a plus)

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure project safety, quality, schedule, and cost compliance with company/client standards.
Lead 2-3 crew members, optimizing skills and equipment use.
Act as primary liaison between Project Manager and crew.
Interpret customer prints to plan tasks and schedule work.
Hold daily pre-work meetings to align on goals and safety.
Verify construction and splicing work meets standards.
Complete phase-specific closeout documentation.
Document job progress with photos.
Maintain company equipment (vehicles, trailers, test tools).
Perform precise fusion and mid-sheath splicing on high-count fiber cables (864ct, 1728ct, 3456ct).
Conduct live fiber splicing during maintenance windows to minimize disruptions.
Install fiber optic cables in various environments (underground, aerial, indoor).
Execute OTDR/OLTS testing to assess cable performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve live network fiber issues.
Produce FastReporter reports for test and splicing documentation.
Operate Fujikura splicers and EXFO testers for low-loss splices and diagnostics.
Pull fiber cables through conduits/ducts for installations.
Support cabinet bolting and basket tray installation (preferred).
Safely operate scissor lifts for elevated work (preferred).
Comply with OSHA, IBEW Local, and NTI safety standards

Work Schedule and Environment
Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, adapting to project requirements.

3+ years of hands-on experience using Fujikura fusion splicing machines for high-count fiber splicing (864ct, 1728ct, 3456ct).
3+ years of experience performing OTDR and OLTS testing with EXFO testing equipment.

Proven ability to perform mid-sheath (ring-cut) splicing and live fiber network splicing with minimal service disruption.
