About Our Team The Communications and Electrical Systems Technology Department is responsible for the development and integration of command, control, and communication technologies used in specialized transportation security systems. The department conducts research and development activities in the areas of high consequence software systems, custom embedded circuit design, wireless network communications, intelligent power conditioning and distribution, navigation systems, and sensors. Major programs supported by the department include the Safeguards Transporter (SGT), development of a new high security system called the Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT) and an advanced concept surety programs called Integrated Surety Architectures (ISA). Robust security protection for transportation systems face many unique challenges, and requires exhaustive investigation and analysis of sophisticated system attacks and the associated development of countermeasures to defend and protect against such attacks. The use of modeling and simulation tools assists in the investigation, exploration, and development of new design approaches, algorithms, and design of experiments to validate system capabilities. The Installation Technician is responsible for structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.) * Has technical proficiency of structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, key systems, networks, and wireless. * Completes any additions, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts. * Performs installations and maintenance of equipment. * Performs engineering of new projects. * Perform installation and maintenance of equipment installations, central office equipment including: iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures. Occasionally performs outside plant installation. * Manage inventory of assigned tools. * Ensures that all assigned tools are current on calibration. * Submits ECR or Red Line for any change that would alter the work items, assignments, and/or specifications. * Must be proficient in writing and presenting a method of procedure for our customers' approval. * Stages all of the equipment and inventorying material for accuracy. * Assigns specific tasks to subordinates and monitors their work ethics for efficiency, quality, and safety. * Responsible for the accuracy in the installation of each and all types of equipment installed. * Performs a test for completeness or wiring to ensure all is installed correctly. * Responsible for the accuracy of all final paperwork required and turned over to the customer in a timely manner. * Completes quality assurance procedures and checks the final products for errors. * Ensures the safety, quality, and efficiencies of the crew. * Interfaces with customer contacts on projects and work orders. * Interfaces with the end user (contact person) and coordinates with other vendors for each project when required by the customer. * Provides technical support for customer contacts and technicians on request. * Attends project planning and progress meetings with or without the customer contacts assigned. * Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of all Telecommunication standards. * Other duties as required. Job DescriptionBenefits: Competitive salary Opportunity for advancement Training & development Fiber Optic Splicer We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Splicer to perform straightforward, highquality fiber splicing work. This role focuses exclusively on splicing, closing out terminal boxes, and completing required quality checks. You will join prebuilt fiber routes, splice at designated terminals, verify light levels, and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete. This position may involve pulling fiber, minor construction labor, or conduit work. Responsibilities Splice fiber at assigned terminals using a fusion splicer Complete all required terminal box closeouts Perform quality checks, including verifying acceptable light levels Build and seal FOSC (Fiber Optic Splice Enclosures) when needed Read and follow splice plans, maps, and basic blueprints Document all splices, fiber counts, and matrix information accurately Provide required closeout deliverables (OTDR traces, cut sheets, photos, etc.) Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance Keep vehicles, tools, and work areas clean and organized Notify the Manager of any equipment issues or repair needs Qualifications 13 years of fiber splicing experience required Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment Ability to read splice plans and fiber documentation Valid drivers license with a clean driving record Ability to pass background and drug screening Ability to follow instructions and work independently Knowledge of safe work practices and emergency procedures Skills Strong understanding of fiber architecture and splice sequencing Clear, accurate documentation skills Ability to analyze and interpret fiber data Effective communication with field teams and leadership High attention to detail and quality Problemsolving and adaptability Comfortable working outdoors Safety Responsibilities Follow all safety rules and use required PPE Attend safety meetings and training Report all hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately Ensure tools and equipment are stored safely Ability to safely direct traffic only when necessary and with proper signage
