CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE
Michael Baker International's Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.
DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a CT Construction Services Lead to oversee and grow our construction services operations in Connecticut and the surrounding region. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and business development responsibilities for facilities, highway, bridge, railroad, and utility infrastructure construction projects, primarily in Connecticut and potentially in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Oversight
Lead and oversee all contract administration, construction management, and inspection operations on-site.
Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with approved construction documents, permits, and quality standards.
Manage and mentor Michael Baker's, subconsultants', and third-party construction inspection project staff.
Support clients with construction project cost control, including evaluating change orders.
Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors on various construction projects in New England.
Ensure scheduled completion deadlines are met and maintain high client satisfaction.
Project Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, overseeing project delivery from initiation through close-out.
Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
Prepare and present project status reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Connecticut construction market and surrounding regions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, industry partners, and stakeholders.
Lead or support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and marketing materials for new projects.
Represent Michael Baker International at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote our construction services.
Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic business development initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of construction-related experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut and/or CCM certification is desirable.
Supervisory and project management experience required.
Knowledge of CTDOT construction policies and procedures.
Proven experience in business development or client relationship management is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $220,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

DESCRIPTION:
Michael Baker International is seeking a Rail Construction Inspector to join our team in Boston. This position will entail the monitoring and inspection of construction methods and workmanship on railroad property, consisting of track, bridges, structures, and associated civil operations. The inspector will document findings including contractor construction materials, quantities, personnel, site conditions, safety, etc. The Inspector will maintain accurate and detailed records, including daily reports, photographic documentation, and surveys, as essential for tracking progress and ensuring accountability. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee daily operations of contractor and/or subcontractor personnel to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with plans and specifications.
Perform regular visual and manual inspections of construction activities related to rail tracks, switches, and related structures.
Effectively communicate safety requirements to workers, participating in safety briefings, and receiving training on safety procedures.
Understand and enforce on-track safety procedures, including proper flagging procedures and communication protocols.

Answer basic contractor questions about plan and specification requirements.

The Opportunity:
Perkins Eastman has an exciting opportunity in our 40-person Boston office. We seek a highly motivated Project Architect to with a combination of design talent and technical knowhow to collaboratively advance designs from pre-schematic through occupancy. The individual will bring an affinity for developing options and resolving solutions for consideration by teammates and clients. This person will have a working knowledge of construction techniques, building codes, green building certifications and project delivery. They will bring a passion for developing optimal solutions that meet our clients aspirations and challenges.
The ideal candidate will be excited about combining technical and design skills and will bring experience with academic projects from PreK through higher education.
Primary Responsibilities:
Advance design, programming and technical solutions in all design phases.
Present options through graphical and other means for team and client consideration.
Develop innovative, efficient, and resilient projects aligned with client goals
Document designs with technical details with a range of software including REVIT.
Rendering skills are preferred. Ability to guide rendering exercises is required.
Participation in and representation of Perkins Eastman in Owner meetings.
Apply knowledge of State & Local building codes, local zoning regulations, and referenced standards.
Provide technical guidance to junior staff.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master of Architecture Degree
8+ years' experience in academic (including K12 and Higher Ed) experience.
Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with project consultants.
Thorough knowledge of State & Local building codes and referenced standards.
Able to interpret, generate, communicate and present design intent and manifest that in phase-appropriate documentation.
Possessing strong interpersonal skills - working with a team that emphasizes collaboration with engineers, owners, and builders and working in a focused and mutually respectful office environment.
Proficiency with MS Word & Excel, REVIT, Adobe, & Bluebeam is required.
Proficiency with Rhino, Navisworks, and REVIT plugins is preferred.
CPHD, LEED and/or WELL accreditations.
Architectural registration is strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Newforma, Procore, and/or other construction project management software is required (training available).

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographical work location.
Salary Range: $93K to $115k
