The role of the Roadside Technician position in our company can be broken down into one sentence: "An emergency response tire technician for semi-truck fleets". To elaborate a bit further; when a customer has a tire related failure, a Technician is dispatched to the customer's location to repair or change the tire. This means that a Technician is expected to be roadside when performing their job duties. During times when there are no service calls pending, Technicians will be expected to help mount orders, clean and organize the shop, and other general duties as needed. During an assigned on-call period, Technicians are expected to respond to after-hours service requests-including evenings and weekends-with a high rate of acceptance. Upload recommendations with pictures and as much detail as possible. Follow standard and set labor times. Follow all warranty procedures including uploading all required pictures into claim when completing repairs. Complete all paperwork including story and op code into DealerTrack at time of completion for ticket to be flagged. Stay up to date on all required manufacturing training and certifications along with all mandatory safety and compliance trainings set by dealer. Must be completed by set deadlines. Summary: To service customer vehicles in a professional and timely manner by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work. Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers. Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes and tears. Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools. Reassemble tires onto wheels. Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply. Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels. Remount wheels onto vehicles. Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles. Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects. Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools. Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed. Inflate inner tubes and immerse them in water to locate leaks. Clean sides of whitewall tires. Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding, or sandblasting. Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety. Safety Conscious - Employee must be safety conscious work in a safe manner using all required PPE. Schedule Flexibility - Employee must be flexible on scheduled hours realizing that business hours are dictated by customer needs and can run past scheduled ending times or start before scheduled beginning times.
