Tutoring services for students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be provided on Fridays during the weekly Enrichment Day. Priority will be given to students in third through fifth grades. The Tutor is responsible for providing academic tutoring and interventions with small groups and/or individual students. They are a problem solver, solution-oriented staff member with a growth mindset focused on providing support to students to improve outcomes. They work extensively with students to help them improve targeted academic skills through the implementation of evidence-based strategies. Job Duties & Responsibilities * Model and meet the expectations of the Portrait of a Lab School Team Member. * Create a fair, considerate, and supportive learning community. * Use restorative practices to address learning and behavior needs. * Foster a growth mindset. * Consult frequently with classroom teachers about the academic needs of students. * Use and maintain data from pre- and post-assessments to inform instructional decisions. * Implement evidence-based strategies to address student-specific needs, increase student engagement, and improve student achievement. * Conduct benchmark assessments to monitor the progress of students and use data to inform tutoring strategies. * Fully understand and follow expectations set forth by the staff handbook. * Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance. * Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, families, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics and state and federal laws. * Comply with state and federal education statutes, including the NC Code of Ethics for Educators. * Other duties as assigned.
