    Special Education Paraprofessional JobID: 2338 Instructional Support/Paraprofessional Additional Information: Show/Hide Job Goal: To assist with a teacher, group of teachers, or throughout the building to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. Requirements: * A minimum of thirty-sixty college hours from an accredited college or university is required, pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program, sixty college hours is preferred. * Twenty-one (21) years of age. * Be able to read and write. Have the ability to understand, and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. * Demonstrate an interest in youth and their educational welfare. * Ability and desire to assist the teacher in providing an educational opportunity for the handicapped child to attain his/her maximum potential. * Experience in working with children in a group setting. * Ability to work well with learning community, parents teachers, students, administrators and staff with courtesy, tact, and good judgment along with having good customer service skills. * Be of good character, neat in personal appearance, dependable, reliable, prompt, and flexible and have pleasing manners and personality. * Ability to cooperate with teachers and willingness to take directions from teaching staff. * Ability to stay uninvolved unless directed by the teacher, even if a situation is perceived differently than the teacher sees it.
