Manage innovation and development of non-insurance service offerings to insureds and others. Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures if necessary to ensure long term profitability at account level. Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability, using rating models as applicable. Monitor peer underwriters in their daily work to ensure profitability as well as efficient and cost effective administration of the US Executive Risk Monitor and supervise assistants in their daily work to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy and consistency within the team and Specialty Risks. Comply with Beazley's underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd's, Beazley's subsidiaries or internal MGAs. Develop a good working relationship with the claims managers on this class of business. Client Management Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure clients' satisfaction. Foster positive relationships with clients to get a mutual understanding of both their and Beazley's needs. Maintenance of good business relationships with brokers. Maintain awareness of overall Beazley product range and take advantages of opportunities to introduce other Beazley products to clients. General Leverage networking opportunities within the business to develop standardised underwriting policy and best practice within Beazley. Develop best practice and disseminate business and class knowledge within US Executive Risk and Specialty Risks. Work with peers within the US Executive Risk and Specialty Risks to maximise business opportunities and profitability within the department. This will include but not be limited to sharing market information, marketing sources and cross selling opportunities. What is a day in the life being a Personal Lines Auto Insurance Underwriter or Underwriting Assistant? Working within the underwriting department, you can expect an engaging and fast-paced day-to-day routine. You'll start by reviewing applications and assessing risk profiles, ensuring each policy aligns with our customer-centric values. Collaboration is key, so be prepared to work closely with the underwriting team members, sharing insights and strategies to enhance our processes. You will also engage regularly with our policy holders, providing exceptional customer service by answering questions and clarifying policy details. You'll also help maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide a high level of customer service by delivering timely responses to agents / policyholders on quotes, endorsements and renewals * Develop a basic understanding of coverage's, exposures, rating plans and state requirements * Enter new business policies, endorsements and renewals * Order reports and assimilate information as required to support the underwriting process * Assist the Underwriting Unit as required for new business, endorsement and renewal processes * Work on special projects as directed * Prepare system output for mailing * Complete Financial Responsibility Filings * Underwriters will assist in training of new underwriting staff in system and daily underwriting processes QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: * Underwriter candidates should have prior Auto Underwriting experience and Underwriting Assistant candidates should have prior customer service experience. * Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. * Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed Property and Casualty Agent. * Good typing/data entry skills (min. 30 wpm). Preferred: * College degree or related industry experience * Property and Casualty Agency license * Ability to use on-line underwriting system First Chicago Insurance Company provides a competitive benefits package to all full- time employees.
