Physician Editors ensure that topics address the important clinical questions that arise when diagnosing or managing a specific disorder, present information clearly and succinctly, and provide evidence-based and actionable recommendations for care. Extensive editorial training is provided to help the editor learn critical skills for evaluating the literature and creating content in the UpToDate style. Training is overseen by at least two senior Physician Editors. Updating is an equally important component of the work and is usually initiated by the Physician Editor, who is responsible for monitoring the literature for new developments and identifying topics that need updating. The on-call (fill-in) Journalist - Anchor / Editor / Writer position is a role that requires the ability to show an aptitude for broadcast delivery and news production of factual, well-written, contemporary news that is informative, compelling, and entertaining. Interns research story concepts, conduct interviews and write articles. They also check facts, help with special sections, develop event calendars and sometimes write sidebars for longer stories. In addition, they assist with editorial research and art queries.
Qualifications
We are looking for applicants who are meticulous about accuracy; this is especially important for verifying facts, but it also applies to spelling, punctuation and usage. Applicants should have solid writing experience, enjoy conducting in-depth research about a wide variety of subjects, exhibit interest in learning about the magazine industry and possess strong communication skills. Applicants also need to be able to take direction. Interns will gain valuable self-editing and rewriting skills, enabling them to produce content that meets the needs of editors and readers. Role and Responsibilities:
- You will source potential sharable content that our huge audience of sports fans on Facebook will engage with.
- You will publish between 3-5 articles per shift depending on your agreed quota.
- You may be asked to write content assigned to you by a senior member of the editorial team.
- You will suggest potential content ideas to senior members of the editorial team.
- You will create eye-catching and intriguing Facebook posts for your content.
- You will live and breathe football and be required to stay on top of trends in the sporting world at all times.
Skills required:
- Excellent writing ability and communication skills are essential
- In-depth knowledge of football (and not just the Premier League!) combined with a genuine love for the game.
- The ability to write about other sports (in particular boxing, UFC, WWE, darts, snooker, gaming and/or F1).
- The knack of being quick to spot fresh viral content and consideration for how we might use this as the basis for a shareable link post on Facebook.
- A strong understanding of all social media platforms - in particular Facebook, Twitter and Reddit.
- An understanding of NewsNow would also be beneficial, as would an understanding of SEO best practices.
- It would also be a bonus if you have experience using WordPress's CMS.
- A strong desire to learn and develop your skills.

- The job will require weekend and evening working and can be home or office based.
