Provides engineering support to other technical staff, engineers, and project managers for the development, design, construction, and or inspection of structures and facilities for port, marine, and intermodal rail terminal projects in the public and private sector; these facilities may include piers, wharves, port and upland marine terminals, seawalls, dry docks, marinas and other nearshore/offshore facilities. Delivers work products at a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Your Impact + With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, survey data, technical reports and drawings, and or other data matrices for project development, design, and construction. + Assist with the development of project design requirements, while incorporating marine-practice engineering standards and specifications. + Assist with identification of project site, design and construction related risks and providing input on mitigation activities. + Write technical reports, generating complete and concise documentation of findings, using sketches, calculations, excel spreadsheets, technical drawings, and other engineering software. + Prepare presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external team members as well as clients. + Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. Our Geotechnical & Tunneling National Business Line is seeking a Full-Time Geotechnical and Tunnel Engineer Internto work out of our St. Louis, MO office. The following locations will also be considered: Orlando, FL; Tampa, FL, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Boston, MA, Pittsburgh, PA; and Madison, WI. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship is flexible. Your Impact * Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. * Learn basic principles of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering. * Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis. * Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. * Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. * Complete training on assigned tasks. * Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. * Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. * Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship Who You Are Required Qualifications * Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later. * Must be 18 or older. * Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects. * Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. * Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects. * Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. * Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. * Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship. Preferred Qualifications * Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later. * Experience using software programs such as gINT, SLOPE/W, FLAC, UDEC, DeepEx, AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, ArcGIS. * Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $19 - $30 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
