Job Description/Duties
The Early Childhood Mental Health Prevention Specialist provides supportive interventions, consultation with children, early childcare staff, and families in participating service programs throughout Stark County provided through contract funded by the Department of Children and Youth (DCY). The ECMH/Prevention Specialist has the responsibility of maintaining uniformly high-quality service to ensure maximum benefits to program participants. The individual must have strong communication skills with both children and adults, enjoy helping others, be organized, energetic, innovative and enthusiastic, maintain a family-oriented advocacy role, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to the philosophy and practice of resiliency and the capacity to build developmentally appropriate and supportive environments are expected.
Essential Functions:
Provide supportive interventions with young children.
conduct a minimum of one direct consultation session per referred child
within 30 calendar days from the initial date of referral.
provide direct consultation to a referred child within 48 hours if they are
experiencing acute emotional, behavioral, or traumatic events, and are at risk of being expelled due to their behavior, as well as follow for ongoing support of child.
Implement strength-based resiliency and skill building curriculum for indicated and/or selected population in assigned early childhood programs, schools, and/or community locations (YMCA).
Conduct screenings and assessments on children identified as having a social emotional
or behavioral concern as requested by an early care and education (ECE) professional and complete program-wide needs assessments, staff consultations, and classroom
observations to support emotionally responsive environments.
Provide consultation and behavior intervention services by request, including DINA Dinosaur services.
Track outcomes for children who are referred by an ECE professional and are
experiencing an acute emotional, behavioral or traumatic event, through follow-ups at intervals of 30
days and 90 days following the services.
Develop and run parent-child events to support social/emotional development and parent education around behavior management, and resiliency.
Provide parent consultations and strengthen parent involvement.
Required minimum of 6 individual consultations with classroom teachers and/or parents per month to address child-specific social-emotional concerns.
Maintain accurate records of service delivery and timely completion of paperwork.
Promote a climate that fosters resiliency and positive social, emotional, and behavioral development.
Attend collaborative team meetings to create positive change within the community.
Attend continuing education opportunities to obtain and/or maintain the Ohio Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant Credential and/or Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist Licensure.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide coordination and referral to community services, as needed.
Act as an advocate for young children, their families, and early childcare providers.
Participate in professional supervision and training activities.
Perform other duties, as required.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to function well as a team member.
Must be culturally competent and willing to work with clients and families within various and diverse populations.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to and from assignments.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of college in Child Development, Psychology; Bachelor's degree with licensure preferred (RA, OCPSA, OCPS, OCPC, LSW, Nursing, Ohio issued teaching license) along with a minimum of two years' experience in early childhood.
If applicant does not already possess OCPS, will be required to immediately apply for RA and obtain OCPS and ECMHC credential within a 2-year timeframe.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Portage Programs, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical supervision and training to assigned staff members in the Group Services Program, including therapeutic day treatment groups, BH Respite Services, and other group activities as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Provide clinical and administrative supervision and trainings to Group Services Staff and Field Placement Students.
Ensure that all clinical records and documentation are up-to-date, and that staff are meeting designated deadlines for paperwork.
Review and approve daily clinical progress notes of Group Services staff and Field Placement Students in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
Engage in planning of evidence-based curricula to be used for client treatment. Ensure that staff have all the necessary training and resources to execute planned curricula.
Participate in research activities to provide for the evaluation of the program's effectiveness and consumer satisfaction. These include, but are not limited to, ensuring that appropriate outcomes data are gathered by staff and periodically reviewing collated data with senior management.

All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

* Implements comprehensive planning, development, prevention, and intervention strategies utilizing a restraint-free and least restrictive approach.
Licensing and Contractual Compliance:
* Review ISP, BSP, related supporting documents, and annual plans in Evolv at least annually for each person supported, if not more often, and complete the Staff Document Review.
* Attends psychiatric/psychological consults to provide behavioral data and updates on application of new/existing interventions.
* Is responsible for leading the team in developing and delivering training on various support plans for the person being supported, as well as for individual caseload. This process includes conducting functional behavior assessments, creating positive behavior support plans, safety plans, refusal plans, PRN psychotropic medication protocols, treatment plans, and annual skills assessments.
* Oversees and coordinates training of direct support professionals on behavior support plans, restrictive procedures, psychiatric PRN protocols, and risk management plans whenever documents are updated, supports change, or new team members join. Identifies needs and provides necessary teaching, mentoring, and resources. Will also train new staff with the program supervisor to ensure plans are effectively implemented.
* Meets with people supported and their teams, at a frequency which ensures effective support.
* Oversees and completes the timely documentation of service delivery, including direct and consultative notes, into the medical record.
* Complete and pass the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) training certification process within 3 weeks of hire.
Administrative:
* Conducts an FBA for each individual on the assigned caseload and updates it annually, using data to drive instructional decisions and ensuring that behavior specialists have also completed this process.
* Implements, collects, trains and analyzes behavioral data on a monthly basis.
* Fulfills 24 hours of mandatory annual training and engages in additional educational opportunities that support professional growth and development. Ensures that behavior specialists have also met these requirements.
* Provides and ensures that behavior specialists provide 24/7 on-call clinical consultation to direct support professionals and program specialists during rotating weeklong designated periods and during business hours for assigned caseload.
* Develops additional resources, plans, and completes assessments to meet the identified needs of the individuals supported within assigned caseload. Additionally, reviews and aids behavior specialists with their plans and assessments as needed. This encompasses various tools, including but not limited to:
* Behavior Support Plans
* Communication Systems
* Desensitization Plans
* Functional Behavior Assessments
* Psychotropic PRN Protocols

* Observe the supported individual and their staff completing interventions at home and in the community, as specified in the treatment plan.
* Required to present and/or guide behavior specialists during the monthly Human Rights Team meetings if anyone on their caseload meets the criteria for Person at Risk or if there is a need to review or implement a Restrictive Procedure Plan.
* Handles individual caseloads and supervises various consultation duties of behavior specialists' caseloads, including initiating and responding to calls, reviewing and addressing block summaries, examining incident reports and planning debriefings, reading and replying to on-call reports, conducting data analysis, and coordinating care discussions with program staff and mental health professionals.
* Correctly and accurately completes and submits by stated deadline, InVision Customized Services required information such as timesheets, mileage documentation, expense reports as well as any personal information required by federal, state, or local doctrines, such as verification of driver's license, physical exam, and vehicle insurance.
* Reports immediately any discrepancies related to the use of personal or company funds.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Clinical Lead Behavior Specialist is responsible for overseeing behavior specialists. Duties include managing and directing staff, conducting meetings, interviewing, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, addressing complaints, and resolving issues. Additionally, this position guides, informs, supports, and evaluates with the behavior specialists the needs of those we support concerning behavioral health requirements and may provide input on the performance evaluations of direct support professionals, particularly regarding the clinical aspects of their responsibilities.
