Qualifications of the Teaching Fellow:

Starting December 2025, the music department seeks a passionate and energetic part-time violin teacher to meet our students' needs in classical violin instruction. The ideal candidate will have a substantial background teaching violin from a varied repertoire to beginner through advanced students. We will value candidates who can effectively build solo artistry as well as the musical skills required to successfully work with ensembles. We seek colleagues interested in being part of a collaborative faculty of more than 40 instructors who work with highly motivated high school students in a diverse, mostly residential community. The preferred candidate can be available to teach at least two days per week.

Part-time adjunct faculty. Position is for a substitute cello teacher for the Winter and Spring terms of the '25-'26 school year with the possibility of subsequent continued employment if needed. Hours vary according to the size of studio roster and the needs of the students and the Academy. Preferred candidates are available to teach at least two days per week if needed.

Teaching
Work with students to set goals for private lessons and select repertoire that is broadly representational and musically diverse.
Teach weekly private lessons (50 minutes each) for high school cello students from intermediate to advanced levels.
Create a weekly schedule for private lessons and communicate with students regarding schedule changes.
Maintain accurate rosters, monitor student attendance, enter grades and comments in a timely manner according to the Academic Advising Calendar and deadlines set by the music department.
Teach in accordance with the Academy's calendar and daily schedule and effectively use Academy systems for communication and course management.
Instruct students in technique, musicianship, and practice strategies.
Assess and support musical development by encouraging participation in appropriate performance opportunities.
Communicate student issues or concerns with Department Chair and/or student's advisor when necessary.
Prepare students for recitals, masterclasses, competitions, college admission recordings, ensemble music and other needs.
Engage with diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist work specific to the music department.
