Working under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the driver/material handler is responsible for the prompt and courteous delivery and pickup of products and materials to clients and vendors. This role is also responsible for moving and staging materials within Baesman facilities and keeping staging areas fully stocked, limiting downtime for machine operators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver and pick up finished/unfinished product from internal departments, clients, and vendors in a safe and timely manner.
Perform a daily delivery vehicle inspection to check for defects and ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
Keep vehicles and material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet wrappers, in clean and working order.
Properly secure the load to ensure stability and security of the product for transportation.
Promptly report to the Logistics Manager any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies or in the event of irregularities relating to a pickup or delivery.
Be professional, courteous, and helpful towards customers and vendor partners.
Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
Pull product needed for specific jobs to proper machine.
Move recycle materials to staging area.
Organize mailing supplies and staging area.
Report consumable inventory needs and transactions in & out of Baesman WMS.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Stretch, wrap, and transport skids of finished product as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six (6) months related experience and/or training.
Current driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass DOT physical
Pass a drug test including marijuana with continued random drug screens throughout employment.
Be able to climb stairs, bend, kneel, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Be able to drive in all types of weather.
Excellent attendance.
Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to work on a team and/or individually when needed.
Capable of operating a forklift and other powered equipment as needed.

Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions

Review signatures for smearing, register issues, bad folds, etc. and notify the Pressroom
Remove folded signatures from web press and place signatures on pallet or skid for removal to warehouse or binding areas
May adjust stacking mechanism on press according to paper dimensions. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, carts and trays
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device
Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher
May use automated equipment and/or operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products

Qualifications
Able to stock, move, jog, arrange, unload, count and rotate items on/off printing press equipment in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a press operator or supervisor
May require knowledge of operation of automatic counters and tabulate counts for jobs
Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials
Good knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic warehouse procedures, and the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures
Good skill in the use of manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as hammers, pliers, strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment

Keep vehicles and material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet wrappers, in clean and working order.
Properly secure the load to ensure stability and security of the product for transportation.
Promptly report to the Logistics Manager any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies or in the event of irregularities relating to a pickup or delivery.
Be professional, courteous, and helpful towards customers and vendor partners.

Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
