Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Provides on the job training to new employees. Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties. Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records. Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning. Tracks quality assurance progress. Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers. Qualifications Minimum Experience: High School + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education. A valid drivers license is required The ability to pick up at least 50 pounds on a consistent basis. Preferred Experience: SRDTT Concrete Testing Certification Prior UDOT inspection experience. Job Description AECOM is seeking a Mid-level Biologist/Ecologist to join our Natural Resources team within our Environmental Permitting and Planning group. This hybrid opportunity will be based in our Murray, Utah office. The successful applicant will be responsible for projects that involve biological resources inventories and impact analysis; innovative mitigation and conservation planning; multi-disciplinary teamwork with biologists, planners, landscape architects, and restoration ecologists; and creative integration of natural resource analysis and project design. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, those listed below: Perform assignments requiring interpretation and application of federal, State, and local environmental regulations. Lead wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping. Conduct wetland delineations utilizing the 1987 USACE Wetland Delineation Manual and applicable regional supplements. Conduct stream assessments. Prepare aquatic resources delineation reports. Compile USACE CWA Sec. 404 permits, calculate wetland/stream mitigation requirements and coordinate with Mitigation Bank Sponsors. Preparing and implementing mitigation, restoration, and monitoring plans. Coordinate with USACE Regulatory Staff and culture positive relationships. Special-status species permitting (e.g., ESA Section 7 biological assessments). Utilize electronic data collection methods (including GPS), manage, interpret and analyze data, as needed. May support business development efforts. Work under the supervision of a senior project manager or senior-level team member. Work independently and as part of a team; be innovative and a problem solver. Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget. Conduct senior review of technical reports prepared by others. Preferred Qualifications: * B.S. preferred (Biology, Geology, Environmental Science) and/or 2+ years of experience as an environmental inspector. * Current Utah Certified Registered Stormwater Inspector (RSI) preferred. * Current HAZWOPER certification preferred (must be obtained upon hire). Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds. * Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 75 - 100% of travel required). * Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, etc.) for field work and oversight. * Ability to drive a 4x4 truck over long distances and uneven terrain. Work Environment / Environmental Factors: * This position is field-based and will require long hours in remote locations in UT, WY, and CO. * Field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result will include working frequently in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for site assessments, field inspections, oversight, and other field activities. * Reporting based tasks will include periods sitting or standing and using a computer. In the role of Utility Engineer, we'll count on you to: * Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects * Oversee the work of CAD Designers, and possibly other EITs * Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects * Participate in activities ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase * Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed * Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications * A minimum of 3 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree * Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design * Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. * Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d * MS Office knowledge * Excellent communication and organizational skills * Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans * An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company.
