Compensation: * Starting pay rate from $28.00 - $33.00 depending on experience - paid weekly Machinist available shift: 7AM to 7PM 2-2-3 schedule The Machinist supports the manufacturing group by completing thermoforming set-ups on schedule. Duties include installing and removing tooling, performing equipment repairs, following all company policies and safety procedures, and maintaining housekeeping standards. Additional tasks may be assigned. Responsibilities: Safety * Support a safe workplace by following rules and speaking up when you see unsafe actions. * Follow all required safety procedures and PPE guidelines. * Keep work area clean and organized. * Immediately report any safety concerns, hazards, near misses, or injuries to supervisor on shift. Quality * Follow all standard work procedures to ensure equipment runs product to quality standards. * Report equipment problems that could lead to quality defects of product. Productivity * Learn and perform all tool room functions and thermoforming set-ups. * Read and use measuring tools (rule, micrometer, calipers). * Set-up and operate all tool room equipment. * Work from verbal instruction, sketches, or blueprints. * Work with minimal supervision and be accessible by radio at all times for direction. * Recommend component upgrades that increase productivity or reduce overtime. * Inspect equipment for problems and make adjustments as needed. * Complete all required paperwork correctly. * Maintain housekeeping in production areas and on equipment (sweeping, mopping, wiping down machines, removing waste) to keep the work area clean, safe, and contamination-free. * Work closely with tool room mechanics to ensure that adequate supplies are "on-hand". * Identify different plant materials correctly. * Safely operate forklifts, hand-jacks, hydraulic cranes, and other powered equipment. * Work in any area of the plant and overtime as needed. * Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor. Requirements and Qualifications: * Must have an outstanding work record. * Position requires an HS Diploma or GED, and 2-3 years related experience. * Demonstrated problem solving and mechanical skills are also required. * Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally is required, as is the ability to perform basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. * Ability to work with others effectively as a part of a team is essential. Physical Requirements: * Most routine tasks are performed while standing or walking or sitting. * Reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling are constantly present while performing job duties. * Frequently turning body from 0 to a maximum of 180 degrees. * Good eyesight is essential for constant inspection of product. Seeing both near and far, color vision and depths of field are all required. Vision corrected with glasses or contact lenses is acceptable. * Frequent walking is required. Distance can be over 500 feet. * Frequent climbing stairs to our parts supplies. * Occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or talking may be required. * Lifting up to 50 pounds is required. * Pushing and pulling is occasionally required. * Controls required include hands/arms (both) and feet/legs (both). * Environment includes inside work 100%, teamwork 100%, can be near or close to others, The production floor can be in excess of 95 degrees during the summer months. * Vibration can occasionally be present from product shakers or grinders. * There is a mild plastic smell at all times. Occasional smell of battery fluid during battery changes on the lift. * Personal Protective Equipment required includes safety glasses and gloves, hearing protection and proper footwear, hair nets are required out on production floor and warehouse. Key Responsibilities: Setup and operation of manual machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses and surface grinders. Demonstrate knowledge of working properties of common metals. Select standard materials and equipment required for the job. Machining of complex precision parts to close specifications. Aligning and securing of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines. Work well with leads of various company departments including engineering, weld shop, assembly and machine shop. Provide training to lower level machinists Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Skills and Requirements: Due to need to maintain ITAR compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
