Summary:
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, drill presses, lasers, lathes, and mills.

Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for and/or directly assisting with planning the assignments of machinists, technicians, and welders facilitating scheduling qualifications to maintain correct job progress throughout the machine shop and deliver high quality, on-time delivery of customer requirements.
You will be developing or providing input to develop processes, procedures, and requirements for accomplishing the work, such as work scopes, instructions, timelines, and tool requirements; reviewing customer RFQ's and specifications to develop safe systems of work, quality control plans, work scopes, material lists, and to assist others engaged in quoting customer RFQ's.
You will be updating the Core Automated Management System to provide status updates on active work orders, submitting work done reports for review, improvement projects; as well as ordering parts, materials, and/or consumable items, e.g., purchase requisitions, and providing managers with written and verbal status.
You will be responsible for training and developing specialized skills and procedures, as well as using technical knowledge and expertise to make recommendations for documented internal training programs, and providing performance reviews on lower-level machinists, and technicians.
You will be responsible for utilizing internal company systems to complete work done reports, inspection forms, and other types of reports to ensure accurate data, billable time and other company reporting requirements.
Supervise and/or set up precision machine tools and shop equipment (manually) including, but not limited to lathes, mills, vertical turret lathes, grinders, and drill presses, utilizing overhead cranes and other lifting equipment, and ensuring positioning and alignment by using dial indicators and hand tools such as wrenches and by selecting cutting tools, speed of feed rates, methods of holding, and order of operations, to ensure that machines and equipment will operate safely and efficiently.

Completes quality checks by examining, analyzing, and or testing the work produced by others using various tools such as: calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment to determine and/or correct potential errors in workmanship to prevent quality escapes.
Ensures compliance and practice of company quality, health, safety, security, and environmental standards in all work areas and certifies work produced under the Goltens Quality Control Program

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of pertinent safety rules and regulations as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) when cutting and shaping metals and other materials in the fabrication of parts and assembly, installation, or repair of various types of machinery, equipment, tools, and dies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) sufficient to ensure the safety of oneself and others.

Provide hands-on manufacturing support, utilizing experience with machining and hardware production. Support the full product life cycle from research and development to low volume production. •Assist with the initial set-up of CNC mills/lathes.
•Participate in fixture design and manufacturability reviews.

At our Landing Gear facility in Medley, Florida, we are seeking a Machinist. This is a full-time position, responsible for using milling machines, boring mills, grinders, lathes, and precision measuring equipment to perform/alterations on aircraft parts and fabricate tools.

Responsibilities:
Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machinery work
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to repair products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances
Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled
Position and fasten workpieces
Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers
Confer with engineering or supervisory personnel to exchange technical information
Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of methods of repairing, installing, and maintaining components of aircraft articles.
Skilled in performing repairs and modifications on aircraft articles.
Familiar with tools and equipment appropriate for the functions performed.
Ability to understand and interpret documents related to technical manuals, diagrams, and safety rules.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for providing technical assistance and oversight to all CNC machinists. This position also must operate the manual equipment
This position is in Northstar's Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.
