The Machinist supports the manufacturing group by completing thermoforming set-ups on schedule. Williams International has an exciting opportunity for three Machining Apprentices to join our team beginning April 2026.
Under supervision of the Manufacturing Team Leader/Mentor, the apprentice will complete a pre-apprenticeship program for a period of three months. The pre-apprentices program focuses on training in safety, basic blue-print reading, basic machining on conventional lathes and mills, measurements and parts verification.
After a successful pre-apprenticeship period, the apprentice will be registered with the Department of Labor under a CNC Machining apprenticeship program. The program will include on the job training as well as instructor led courses through our partner organization, Oakland Community College. The training will be focused on CNC lathes, CNC mills, and advanced machining.
The apprenticeship training period is for 2 years. After successful completion, the candidate will finish in an off-shift position as a permanent full-time employee.

Job Description:
The Manual Machinist utilizes parts, prints, drawings, travelers or engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate prototype components, jigs and fixtures within set tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup and operation of manual machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses and surface grinders.
Demonstrate knowledge of working properties of common metals.
Select standard materials and equipment required for the job.
Machining of complex precision parts to close specifications.
Aligning and securing of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
Work well with leads of various company departments including engineering, weld shop, assembly and machine shop.
Provide training to lower level machinists
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Skills and Requirements:
Due to need to maintain ITAR compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Able to read and comprehend prints, engineering drawings and information in order to determine methods and sequences needed for completion
Proficient knowledge of all machining equipment operations
Manual dexterity to safely and proficiently utilize precision equipment, construct moderate to complex set-ups
Able to work independently within established procedures associate within job function
Good communication skills
Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instruction in English
Ability to work well with only a modest amount of repeated instructions
Be team oriented and possess flexibility and adaptability
Conduct himself/herself in a business-like and civil manner

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance and oversight to all CNC machinists. This position also must operate the manual equipment
This position is in Northstar's Manufacturing Department, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The position works with all levels of employees throughout the organization as necessary, but does not direct the work of other employees. This is a full-time position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist teammates with technical issues
Perform precision machining operations on aerospace hardware
Provides technical oversight and assist with all setup activities on CNC equipment
Helps schedule resources in areas to ensure daily work is achieved
Maintain highly efficient work process using Lean principles to support cost reduction activity
Responsible for operating various CNC machines and equipment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

The CNC Machinist will program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes as part of the Flexfab Machine Build group. This role supports operations through custom-built machines and repairs, ensuring precision and efficiency in a dynamic service environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts.
Read and interpret engineering designs and convert them into CNC programs.
Utilize SolidWorks and MasterCam software for programming and design tasks.
Perform machine setup and ensure accurate operation for part production.
Support the Machine Build team by:
Providing efficient, personable service.
Performing preventative maintenance.
Managing tooling inventory.
Maintaining shop cleanliness.
Assisting with other machine build activities as needed.
Communicate effectively with machine build, engineering, controls, and operations personnel.
Prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
Work overtime as required, often on short notice.

Desired Qualifications
