What Does This Job Include: Encouraging residents to maintain and develop their fullest potential for living through participation in activity and recreational programs in memory care and on assisted living. They will work in conjunction with the activity director. Be willing to assist and work with volunteers and be able to utilize their assistance. Getting the caregivers involved in assisting with group activities. Inventory needed supplies for a variety of different activities. Contributing new ideas for the monthly activity calendar. Following the monthly activity calendar on the days scheduled to work. Willing to ensure that activities are offered to each resident as identified on the resident service plan. Participating in required monthly In-Services. Will leave the activity room clean and orderly at the end of their shift. Maintains a good working relationship with all customers; including residents, family members, community, vendors and staff. May be asked to work different days or hours should a special activity/event that requires more activity assistants, fall on a day off. Willing to provide 1:1 visits/interaction with residents that are not attending group activities. Will refrain from gossip of any kind and conducts self professionally. Positions for Substitute Special Education Bus Aides have been declared open in the Weber School District transportation department. This is an on-call position for up to 3 hours per day, 9 months per year. Applicants may apply at wsd.schoolspring.com. Purpose Statement The job of Bus Aide was established for the purpose/s of assisting students while they are being transported to and from school and providing assistance with students' health care. Essential Functions Assesses potential emergencies to take appropriate action to protect the well-being of passengers. Assists special education students in providing for special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses, including emergencies, and regular transport. (e.g., calming them down, watching for signs of seizures, cleaning students, redressing students, tying shoes, etc.) Climbs and descends bus stairs 3 Times in 30 seconds to assist students. Drags a 125-pound object on the ground 50 feet within 30 seconds to assist a student in a possible emergency. Instruct special education students and other passengers to enforce rules and regulations and maintain safety. Kneels down and properly secures a wheelchair to the school bus, then returns to a standing position within 60 seconds to assist students. Monitors students to prevent distractions to the driver or injury to themselves or others. (e.g., unruly, disruptive, spitting, hitting, abusive language, seizures, etc.) Picks up and carries a 50-pound object 35 ft within 20 seconds from seat height (16 inches) to assist students. Reports observations and incidents to communicate information to appropriate personnel. (e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) Secures students and equipment with restraints and tie-downs to ensure students' safety and welfare. (e.g., wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.) Other Functions Assists other personnel as required to support them in completing their work activities. Required Qualifications Individuals interested in applying to be a lab aide must have completed a Trig- or Calc-based physics course with a laboratory section, with a grade of B or better. Lab aides for first semester introductory courses must have completed a lab accompanying PHYS 2010/2210, and lab aides for second semester introductory course must have completed a lab accompanying PHYS 2020/2220. Lab aides may need to complete training sessions on a regular basis. Applicants should have an interest in physics as well as in teaching others.
