Job DescriptionSalary: 19.00 The Fairbanks Rescue Mission is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Residential Aide plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the shelter program, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents. This position requires a compassionate individual who can provide crisis intervention, and coordinate services for individuals in need. Provides appropriate support for promoting the physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being of the resident or occupant; engages in activities to enhance such well-being. Responsible for making the Mission run efficiently by performing a wide variety of duties to oversee the cleanliness, orderliness, safety, and security of the facility. Key Responsibilities: Ability to perform shift work for evenings and nights. Physically able to walk the grounds on a periodic basis to conduct building security checks and lift up to 40 pounds. Completing new client admissions. Documenting client interactions. Supervising chores and room checks. Maintaining program and client confidentiality. Conducts room and person searches as instructed as needed. Collects urinalysis specimens as assigned as needed. Receives incoming calls and delivers accurate messages while maintaining consumer confidentiality during shifts with no clerical coverage. Ensure that all health and safety issues are addressed as necessary. Completes documentation following established standards, incident reports, and other data in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for calling law enforcement and professional medical assistance when necessary. Provides guidance, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and motivational interviewing, and while ensuring program policy and procedures are followed. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school graduate or GED. Valid Alaska Drivers License. Understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, as well as cross-cultural communication styles. Experience working with people with addictive behaviors, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders strongly desired. Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with residents. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, and crisis intervention skills. Work with minimal direction and make decisions involving significant discretion while observing professional boundaries. Computer literacy, including a good working knowledge of basic software applications. Work Environment: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The Fairbanks Rescue Mission is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. Works in an environment where protection of consumer confidentiality is essential. RESIDENTIAL AIDE (RA) I/II This position functions as a part of the clinical team in a culturally sensitive consumer residential treatment facility to provide rehabilitation services to consumers who are experiencing emotional and behavioral complications and addictive disorders. Multiple Positions Available TO APPLY: Please state your program & work schedule preference. Programs: Women and Children Center for Inner Healing (WCCIH) A medium-intensity, long-term, residential treatment program designed to serve substance-abusing pregnant and postpartum mothers with children through age seven. Women meet in groups and have individual sessions designed to help them break the cycle and triggers of their addictions. They are also given life skills and parenting help. Ralph Perdue Center (RPC) A short-term, residential, alcohol, and drug rehabilitation program that provides on-site services in a safe, secure, and structured environment for an average of 45 days available to native and non-native adult men and women, to understand and seek addiction treatment. RPC provides individual or group counseling, alcohol/drug education, and case management based on the needs of the individual and the outcome of their assessment. Street Outreach Advocacy Program (SOAP)/SOAP Basic Center An outreach program that provides services for children, ages 10 to 25 years old, who are at high risk of becoming homeless, are currently homeless or have run away from home. SOAP's goal is to protect youth from abuse, sexual exploitation, and assault, as well as prevent involvement in criminal activity due to their lack of money or supportive resources. (RA I) Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent (GED). Valid Alaska Driver's License. For company insurance purposes you must be at least 25 years old with a clean driving record for the past three (3) years. (RA II) Qualifications: RA I qualifications, plus Three (3) years of regular, full-time specialized work experience providing direct consumer care to culturally diverse consumers experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties.
