Classroom Aide FSLA: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Programs UPDATED: July 2025 SALARY/BENEFITS: $16.75 to $20.00 per hour SCHEDULE: 10-month POSITION SUMMARY Assist in activities in preschool classroom and preschool center. Work with typically developing children, children with disabilities, and interact with various preschool staff. Cover breaks for Lead Teachers and Associate Teachers. Engage in activities with preschool children in the classroom and on the playground. Interact with preschool staff including, but not limited to, Lead Teachers, Associate Teachers and Food Service Workers. Cover vacancies of preschool staff to ensure required licensing ratios are maintained, traveling to centers as necessary. Cleaning duties as assigned. Attend professional development opportunities as required. EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1-year of experience working with preschool age children. REQUIRED Strong verbal communication skills. Ability to remain confidential when exposed to sensitive information. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and demonstrate flexibility A minimum of 1-year of experience. PREFERRED Knowledge of school districts and community. Experience working with Head Start/Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) families. CPR certified. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
