Purpose Statement/Job Overview:
This position assists school personnel under the direction of the building administrator, or designee (Title I Teacher Leader or School Counselor), in instructional and non-instructional activities for students who are exhibiting behavioral challenges. This position implements and monitors intervention for students, supports the development and implements classroom supports, and models techniques for staff in teaching positive student behavior.
Primary duties include (but are not limited to) engaging in the following activities with support and direction:
Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior
Interpret and implement written behavior plans,
Utilize and model the implementation of positive behavior supports with students
Observes, collects data, and analyzes existing classroom conditions in order to assist with behavior plan strategies and implementation to provide input on student needs.
Collect data regarding student behaviors and support appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students.
Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce lesson plans.
Provides behavior skills instruction and reteaching under the direction of the school administrator, or designee, in one-on-one, small group or whole group situations
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with multiple school teams
Support inclusion in general education classrooms
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Collaborate with administration, counselors, teachers and other school personnel,

Aides in Special Education and P.E. may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous related experience preferred
