A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A THERAPEUTIC RECREATION / ACTIVITIES AIDE
The TR / Activities Aide assists by encouraging residents to participate in our daily activities that range from arts and crafts or music to pet therapy and literary activities or games. As a TR / Activities Aide, you will spend much of your time interacting directly with residents during daily programming, lunch in the main dining room, and with large groups off the unit. You will also engage in one-on-one visits with residents and are responsible to complete documentation on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate would be creative and able to plan, adapt, and implement projects and activities to the residents' abilities during group sessions. Other activities offered by this department for resident enjoyment include horticulture, spiritual offerings, food preparation, card and board games, and physical activities. You will also interact with friends and family members of our residents as you share some of the gift shop responsibilities with our team.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THERAPEUTIC RECREATION / ACTIVITIES AIDE
The ideal candidate must be able to: (1) relate to the residents' life experiences and current interests, (2) monitor and chart residents' activity involvement accurately, (3) work independently and (4) possess patience and an understanding of the residents' concerns and needs.
WORK SCHEDULE
Our Therapeutic Recreation / Activities Aide will work Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm as well as every other weekend and every other holiday. Also, one evening a month 12p-8pm You may be requested to work at other times for special events.
