Role Summary : The Aircraft Mechanic role is responsible for repair and maintenance of aircraft for the Maintenance & Engineering division of Hawaiian Airlines. As a member of the Hawaiian Airlines ‘ohana, this individual contributor role performs all functions in the repair and maintenance of aircraft, which includes dismantling, repairing, assembly, and erection of machinery and mechanical devices. This is a union represented position. Key Duties : - Responsible for accomplishing assigned maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair work on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft(s). - Checks, dismantles, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and welds all parts of aircraft, including engines, radio equipment, instruments, electrical systems, heating systems and hydraulic systems. - Performs machine tool work in connection with the above mechanic maintenance work. - Dismantles, repairs, fabricates, welds, alters, and maintains all machinery and mechanical devices, including automotive equipment, ramp equipment, buildings, hanger, and fuel storage or dispensing equipment. - Shall be required to return an aircraft to service after maintenance had been performed as allowed by the GMM and the privileges of the airframe and powerplant license. - Shall be required to sign work records in connection with work performed. - Inspects parts, sub-assemblies and completed assemblies only to the extent necessary to determine, accomplish and approve own work. - Will be required to but not limited to be working on check aircraft. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills : Required - Must have FAA Airframe and Powerplant License. - Must be able to become qualified to perform engine run and taxi on the A321 and A330 aircrafts. - Must be able to become qualified on the A321, A330, 717 and 787 aircrafts. - Must have own tools. - Must be able to lift 25lbs. frequently and up to 70lbs. as needed. - Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues. - Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp. - Must have a valid unexpired driver's license issued by a US state, a US territory or the District of Columbia. - Flexible to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. - Ability to obtain airport security clearance. - Ability to communicate in English. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U. Must obtain Collateral Duty Inspector Qualification within 6-18 months of position start date depending on prior experience. Reading and interpreting technical data and blueprint drawings. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below: Blade/Pylon Fold, Power Plants and related Sub-Systems, Fuel and Air Systems, Rotor Systems, and related Sub-systems Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
