The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region Highways & Aviation is looking for an EquipmentOperator, Lead/Journey 3 in Dillingham to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
This position is responsible for the following tasks in relation to the operations and maintenance for the Dillingham Certificated Airport, 9 Rural Airports, and 79 lane miles of State Highways: Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), TSA safety and security checks, crack sealing, snow and ice control, pavement markings, pothole patching, blading, wildlife control, operation of various pieces of equipment, and other duties as assigned.

The Dillingham Maintenance Station is made up of 9 staff who work cooperatively to operate and maintain regulatory certification and compliance of this important FAR Part 139 and TSA 1542 airport, State Highways, and Roads. This also includes rural airports across approximately 40,000 square miles of Southwest Alaska. We are the "moving" in the DOT&PF mission to "Keep Alaska Moving through Service and Infrastructure!".
Our crews maintain the airport and roadways in all conditions, year around. Whether plowing snow in near "white-out" conditions; maintaining roadways safely for the traveling public; repairing asphalt on paved surfaces; conducting security inspections on airport; maintaining airport lighting systems; clearing rights-of-way and airport safety areas of vegetation overgrowth; these are just a few of the situations you can find us in while making the difficult seem routine day after day. COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain an N-Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

The Temporary EquipmentOperator is an employee of the Kenai Municipal Airport during the winter maintenanceseason. The Temporary EquipmentOperator works under the direction of the Airport Operations Supervisor and isresponsible for snow and ice control at the Kenai Municipal Airport. The Operator must operate graders, loaders,sanders, and blowers. Most hours worked are scheduled shortly in advance and largely dependent upon weatherdemands and the ability of the employee to work on short, call-out notice.
1. Operate graders, loaders, sanders, blowers, plow trucks, and runway brooms independently and without directsupervision.
2. Perform routine general maintenance of all equipment used in work, including, but not limited to, changing andinstalling tires; cutting edges on equipment, lubricating and fueling equipment, and mounting plows, sanders, andblowers.
3. Shovel and clean Airport runway and taxiway lights.
4. Screen, spread, clean up, maintain, and stockpile sand for use at the Airport.
5. Communicate effectively via radio, cell phone, and email.
6. Attend department training as required.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Possess experience demonstrating knowledge of standard practices used in the operation, repair, and maintenanceof heavy equipment.

4. Possess a valid Alaska Class "B" commercial driver's license (CDL). This position is governed by the City of Kenai'sDrug and Alcohol policy and Department of Transportation (DOT) CDL regulations. Regulations also required the City to obtain drug and alcohol information and testing results from the FederalMotor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). WORKING ENVIRONMENT

EquipmentOperator Journey 2:
* Operate 8-yard dump trucks with plow, sander, and blade attachments for snow removal and aggregate hauling
* Use motor graders for ditching, surface repair, and snow operations
* Transport heavy equipment with semi-tractors, lowboys, belly dumps, and water tankers
* Operate dozers (D4-D7), loaders, and snow blowers for material handling and snow removal
* Perform loader work in pits, snow dumping, and material loading
* Handle general duties: flagging, maintenance, manual labor, and shop cleanup
* May act as lead, entering daily data into the State MMS system
* Operate steam boilers to thaw drainage structures
* Weld and cut materials for equipment maintenance and repair

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

What You Will Be Doing:
* Maintain state highways, airports (including a Category III FAA Part 139 airport), bridges, seaplane bases, and related infrastructure year-round.
* Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as plow trucks, graders, loaders, sweepers, blowers, and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles.
* Perform snow and ice control, pavement repair, sweeping, striping, ditching, brushing, drainage work, and installation or repair of roadway and airport components.
* Conduct ARFF duties, runway inspections, friction testing, wildlife hazard management, and airport security inspections in compliance with FAA and ASP requirements.
* Complete required documentation and reports, including timesheets, work logs, inspection forms, and wildlife tracking.

What you will be doing:

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the EquipmentOperator Journey 1, EquipmentOperator Journey 2, or EquipmentOperator Lead/Journey 3 level depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1, promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.

What You Will Be Doing:
* Operates and services heavy and light-duty equipment for the year-round maintenance of state highways and airports, including snow removal, grading, and material hauling.
* Maintains vegetation, signs, bridges, culverts, drainage structures, bike paths, and road surfaces within the State Right-of-Way.
* Performs traffic control duties such as flagging and may serve as a lead, completing daily entries in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
* Conducts equipment upkeep, welding, cutting, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
* Operates various specialized equipment including graders, loaders, dozers, dump trucks, snow blowers, semi-trucks, and steam boilers for maintenance and repair operations.
