Job Summary:
As a Machine Operator for H&S, you'll be setting up and operating Boring Mills, Lathes, Hobbing, and Grinding Machines to machine industrial gearing parts to specific tolerances. The operator is responsible for operating controls, setting offsets, editing programs, some deburring, and performing self-inspection of parts in-process and upon completion for conformance to requirements. The Operator will also use large overhead cranes and other large equipment.
Primary responsibilities:
Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts.
Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for a job.
Calculate where to cut or bore.
Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon and other materials.
Determine how fast or slow work piece is fed into machine.
Determine how much material to remove.
Select tools and materials for the job.
Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
Mark the work piece to show where cuts should be made.
Position work piece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine.
Monitor and control feed rate and speed.
Ensure work piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.
Regulate temperature of work piece.
Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.
Monitor the accuracy of cuts.
Replace dull cutting tools.
Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
Produce large quantities of parts.
Determine how automated equipment will cut a part.
Determine cutting path.
Concert path, speed, and feed information into set of instructions for machine tool.
Use manual and computer-controlled machinery.
Write basic programs.
Modify programs in response to problems.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of five years' experience on CNC Horizontal Boring Mills, Lathes, and Grinders, and proficiency with large-part machining and blueprint reading; with the understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
CNC programming experience a plus.
Must be able to perform own setups, measure parts that consistently result in precision quality parts.
Large overhead crane experience and move large work pieces.
Must be able to edit G and M-codes, trouble shoot jobs and make adjustments as required.
Strong shop mathematics (trigonometry) aptitude and the ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, mics and other gauges).
Must have the ability to use a feed and speed chart or calculator to determine appropriate feeds, speeds, and depths of cut.
Understanding of metal properties and appropriate cutting tools.
Positive attitude required; dependable, self-starter and the willingness to help others.
Ability to work in a large manufacturing environment and performs well with minimal supervision.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Our CNC Set Up Machinists work in a newly renovated, air-conditioned facility with loads of natural light - we brought in 17 brand new CNC machines, and we work with live-tooling lathes and state of the art mills.
Pay: $40.97/hour (includes shift differential). Relocation assistance available for non-local candidates.

Position Summary & Objective
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
* Set up and operating manual lathes and/or mills.

* Analyzes design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates, according to knowledge of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities.
* Lifts and positions work piece on machine table, manually or with hoist, and secures it, using clamps, bolts, or fixtures.
* Machining parts to print per specified tolerances.
* Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
* Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
* Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
* Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards, using in process inspection tools and devices.
* Use of overhead cranes to set up material on machines.
Qualifications
Knowledge and abilities
Ability to:
* demonstrate strong math aptitude;
* interpret machine prints, geometric tolerancing, and dimensioning;
* use a feed & speed chart or a calculator to determine appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth of cuts;
* read blueprints and work from: sketches, diagrams, etc.
* use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers
* work overtime and weekends as work load dictates

* The physical strength and ability to properly handle tooling and to safely set up large work pieces;

**Job Description**
**Job Summary:**
Under limited supervision, assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and making tool adjustments on various types of manual and conventional. machines. Works from drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. Tasks and assignments tend to be complex and non-routine. This position requires competencies including molding, tooling, quality and technical leadership.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Reviews and verifies dimensions and tolerances in drawings to determine best setup and work operation sequences.
+ Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools or materials onto machines.
+ Manufactures jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and production tooling used in manufacturing processes.
+ Utilizes knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
+ Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.
+ Identifies and repairs minor machine malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
+ Confers with supervisors, production personnel, programmers, engineers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
+ Reads and interprets blue prints, and geometric tolerancing.
+ Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications.
+ Installs dies on machines using clamps, bolts and other hand tools.
+ Demonstrates technical leadership
+ Ability to set up and run manual mills, lathes, jig bores, band saws, assemblies, etc.
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower-level machinists including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization's policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

Job Overview:
Are you a skilled machinist with a passion for precision and innovation at Ingersoll Rand, we are seeking a talented and dedicated Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities:
* Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Rind Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
* Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions, etc. Ability to read Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators & other precision measuring & test equipment as required.
* Able to maintain low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings as low as .0005" at times.
* Understands how to select appropriate cutting tools for various metals. Understands how to determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish.
* Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
* Safe operation of Forklift within a Machine Shop environment. Safe Over Head Crane operation. Adheres to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
* Lifting and Rigging of heavy components of various configurations & weights. Assisting in the disassembly, reassembly, repair and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
* Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
* Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge of machine setup, as well as usage of machine controls and capabilities.
* 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
* 2+ or more years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
* 1+ or more years of experience working on king style boring mills (or vtls)
* Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of tools and equipment, including but not limited to depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.
Core Competencies:
* Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
* Ability to convert between metric and US standard units of measure.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several variables
* Ability to use standard problem-solving methods (ie. 5 Whys) as trained
* Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisor, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Preferences:
* HS Diploma or GED preferred. Higher Education or certificate is a plus.
* Experience with manual machining such as VTL/Boring Mill/ or Horizontal Lathe. Brands would include but not limited to Cincinnati and King brand.
* Proven ability to set up and operate Manual Machines, work centers, specializing in tool changes and in-process offset adjustments.
