ALMACO is currently seeking a Remote Field Service Equipment Mechanic Location: This is a remote, field service position that works remotely in the United States. Candidates living near or relocating to Indianapolis, Indiana are preferred. ALAMCO is based out of headquarters in Nevada, IA.

Day-to-day tasks in this position:
* Visit client sites for preventative maintenance, upgrades, and emergency repairs of our agricultural equipment. (Field Service Techs support all of the components on each machine: mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical.)
* Speak to customers on the phone and via email to coordinate visits as well as provide remote support.
* Provide training and education to large and small groups about the use of our equipment and each specific machine.
* Assist Engineering and Quality departments in the testing and development of new and modified research equipment.
* Promote sales and service of ALMACO equipment while providing excellent customer support.
Qualifications for the Field Service Technician:
* Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, and eligibility for a Passport, as well as ability to be insured in rental cars (age 21 or older.)
* Very good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with a wide range of people.
* Great mechanical skills. (Experience with large machinery will be helpful, but any experience with mechanical repair of equipment is great.)
* Basic understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, computer systems, and hydraulic systems.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* Willingness to travel to customer sites and be on-call, ready to travel at short notice and for extended periods of time.
Travel Requirements:
* Travel will occur about 80% for this position, and will regularly include multiple-day trips in the United States
* A company vehicle, phone, and computer will be provided, and travel expenses are paid.

The position calls for considerable experience as a general mechanic and additional experience in welding, hydraulics, and diesel engine repair. Some of this training and experience may be acquired at TMW, to gain familiarity with the product, its parts, and assemblies, its literature, and the company policies affecting warranty. The incumbent is called upon to interpret blueprints, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, parts catalogs, lubrication charts and repair manuals. He must show versatility and ingenuity to get the machinery operating in the least possible time. Customer satisfaction is the goal.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Consults with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and availability of parts.
Diagnoses malfunctions: repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls - to correct malfunctions and to keep machines in operating condition.
Provides tools and parts and arranges for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
Reports to Service Supervisor such information as name of customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, the time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., so that proper accounts can be charged, and proper billing can be made.
Strives to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meeting of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.
Promotes and enhances the company image by maintaining a neat, personal appearance and by keeping the service truck in a clean, polished, and orderly condition.
Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve.
Experienced or advanced servicemen will be expected to train new servicemen or to supervise a team of servicemen in the assembling or servicing of large units or in a joint effort on large repair jobs.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting up to 50 pounds.
· Incumbents must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record, since the employee will be driving company owned vehicle and will be covered under corporate insurance.
· Must be DOT certifiable.
· Incumbents will be required on occasion to stay overnight at out-of-town locations.
· Basic computer skills required.
· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
Education and Experience:
· Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
· Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
· While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.

Disassemble machine, order parts, make repairs, assemble machine, check machine operation make sure repairs are complete and confirm problem is fixed unit has no leaks, and is work ready
Clean parts, scrape gaskets, prep for assembly
Maintain safety and cleanliness of work environment
Travel to jobsites and vendor training sessions as needed
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, a 2 year technical degree or comparable military training is preferred
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in the heavy equipment industry or a related field
Excellent written and oral communication and basic mathematical skills.
Proficient with a computer, including the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use using manufacturer provided programs.
Must have a good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
Ability to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist and carry and lift up to 70lbs.
Ability to climb and perform work on heights of 15 feet
Able to work in all types of weather conditions
Capable of working with limited supervision / self-starter
