The plant manager manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities. This position serves as the senior Amcor representative locally and is responsible for compliance with the Amcor code of conduct and ensuring plant compliance with all regulations (Federal and local), as well as other Amcor policies and procedures. **Accountabilities and Responsibilities:** + Promotes a proactive and sustainable environmental, health and safety culture that supports Amcor "zero incident" goal and that exceeds local, state and federal requirements + Adheres to Amcor Rigid Packaging Safety and Quality policies and procedures. + Responsible for developing, managing and optimizing talent throughout the plant. Manages multi-cultural plant operational employees in the efficient performance of their duties, and the effective operation of the facility. + Responsible for directing plant activities to achieve optimum utilization of equipment and maximum efficiency in operations. + Responsible for assuring conformance of finished products to the customer specifications, division and industry. + Reviews the safety performance and training programs for the facility. Works closely with the plant personnel to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by taking an active role in the plant's safety programs and goals. + Recommends and oversees execution of capital improvements for the plant which result directly in improved safety conditions, improved quality of finished product, resulting in added value, improved efficiency, or reduction of plant variable or fixed operating costs. + Responsible for engaging employees in a continuous improvement culture. Sponsor and Drive Six Sigma and Lean Projects at the plant for CI and sustain through Visual Management and Daily Management Systems. + Responsible for all aspects of financial management of the facility. Controls financial spending of all departments to deliver on budgetary goals. + Prepares periodic reports pertaining to plant utilization, labor efficiencies, materials usage, scrap, etc. + Works closely with Amcor Commercial contacts and customers to insure coordination of activities and facilitation of customer relationship. + Keeps informed of technical and management developments to assure continued personal growth and to coach employees toward optimum performance. + Works with direct reports to assure coordination of production activity and delivery schedules. + Manages team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: Managerial: Implements a zero-incident culture with a focus on elimination of incidents and hazards and preventing any damage to the environment Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with regulations, terminal rules, quality standards and company policies Maintains proficient communication with Health & Safety, Environment, Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, Logistics and Sales departments Manages the P&L to meet regional and corporate financial goals Maintains capital assets and manages capital improvements and construction projects associated with plant upgrades or new installations Management of employees including hiring, discipline process, employee performance reviews, the safety of employees and the management of safety programs Facilitation and development of customer relations and service using a quantitative, quality-based approach Stays abreast of changes in working conditions or new technology that could increase the safety and efficiency of the operations Initiates and supports improvement plans for employees to succeed in their efforts to achieve the goals of the department Implements company policies on worker safety, safety regulations, company policies/procedures and work rules Operational: Responsible for all aspects of inventory management activity for the site Manages plant costs and assets, including maintenance, repair, and capital for all equipment Manages all contracts and subcontracts associated with the plant Implements and manages plant security, environmental testing, corrective action, and permits Performs plant inspections and manage project quality control Manages plant truck distribution and logistics Reports and investigates accidents or unsafe conditions at plant Enforces company policies and procedures Manage all contracts associated with plant including but not limited to rail carriers, land leases, trans loaders (sub-contractors), truck companies, and equipment Implements and maintains daily, weekly, and yearly reports and summaries on production, inventory and plant equipment / asset maintenance Daily activity and product inventory reporting Coordinates and interacts with government agencies, including state, counties, and local personnel Skills and Expertise Industry experience required ideally from agriculture, bulk liquids, chemicals, fertilizers, terminal operations or food manufacturing Bachelor's degree - highly preferred Experience with the broad, multi-mode bulk liquid handling including truckload, shipping and rail General engineering knowledge; steam boilers, compressors, loading racks, product blenders and automation systems Strong computer skills and familiarity with truck, bulk and inventory programs, and MS windows applications and plant automation software Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques used in planning, budgeting, reporting, and staffing Works effectively with others, has strong inter-personal and negotiation skills, can communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and good presentation skills at all levels of the organization Ability to resolve and overcome issues, problems and roadblocks to meet objectives HIGHLY COMPETITIVE PAY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE We recognise that talent comes in many forms, and we value potential just as much as experience. Work Schedule: M-F, Saturdays as needed (3:00 PM - 1:00 AM) Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversees start-up and set-up… or end of operations shut down. Ensure all safety standards are being applied. Coordinates all daily activities with supervisors. Makes sure products are being ran correctly (quality, packaging). Assures product wholesomeness. Communicates with Quality, Maintenance, all shift production and Sanitation. Responsible for answering unfavorable variances with the plant. Responsible for USDA concerns. Takes care of employee issues and human resource issues. Schedules employees for company meetings (i.e. hearing tests, 401K sessions, etc.). Coordinates rework from freezer. Makes sure everyone is notified of schedule changes (production, maintenance, supply, and QC). Ensures standards are met for every product. This is a safety sensitive position Qualifications and Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent work experience and education. Experience working in the poultry business preferred. 3-5 years direct experience in plant operations at a supervisory level and above. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise hourly employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
