Full-time Description
To assemble filters by hand that meet company and customer specifications in a timely manner.
· Assemble filters - put various types of media into preassembled filter frames; pour urethane and secure together by various measures such as bolts, staples, etc.
· Be sure that the pleat count is correct (where applicable).
· Be sure frame is square based on the filter specifications provided.
· Clean off excess urethane from production filter frame prior to moving to the next stage (where applicable).
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
DECISIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for producing quality filters and meeting company specifications in a fast-paced environment.
· Follow all safety rules and procedures.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Must be able to read and understand instructions.
· Must have the ability to recognize correct inserts and frames.
· Must be able to recognize numbers.
· Must be able to read a tape measure.
· Must have the ability to learn different materials used (training will be provided).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
· May be required to lift up to approximately 50 pounds.
· Must be able to stand at work station for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to have repetitive motion which would include bending, twisting and squatting.
· Must be able to use both hands and arms in repetitive motions.
· Must be able to work in a noisy and dusty manufacturing environment.
· Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
· Must be able to withstand both hot and cold atmosphere depending on weather conditions.

Shift: Eight hour shifts Monday to Sunday on 2nds (2:45pm to 11pm) or 3rds (10:45pm to 7am)
Starting Wages: $20.46 - $23.75/hour plus a $.75 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts
Top out at 1 year: $21.02 - $24.43/hour plus a $.75 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts

Job Summary:
The Technician I Production performs calibration and functional tests on subassemblies and end items of moderate complexity in accordance with established procedures. The Technician I also performs more complicated testing under close direction in support of high-volume production test operations.
Essential Functions:
Perform assigned testing operations within assigned functional area
Create non-conformance reports including detailed description of testing performed, resulting failure and initial root cause investigation results
Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, and engineering drawings, functional and acceptance test procedures, failure reports, manuals and all other applicable engineering and production specifications
Calibrate or otherwise adjust assigned units by such means as potentiometer adjustment, clocking or other positioning, shimming, tension or coil adjustments, bearing and gear adjustments, as appropriate for specific unit; Make required mathematical calculations for voltage, resistance, current, impedance, amplification, flow rate and mass, mechanical dimensions and adjustments
Perform automated testing and performance testing using a variety of automated testing equipment and special test console to simulate in-service specifications, including but not limited to: vibe, burn in, thermal cycle and leak test, or hydraulic testing
Perform manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation and interpretation of results from standard and special purpose test equipment, applicable to assigned product area, such as differential and multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, altitude chamber, flow meter and hi-pot, or hydraulic valves
Test units in other programs not normally worked on, and units of greater complexity under close supervision
Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy
Supports Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
Flexible and willing to work overtime as necessary
Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Non-Essential Functions:

Support internal and external audits
Perform minimal work under a microscope or soldering
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, or equivalent educational background
Knowledge: Familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment; Working knowledge of computer systems
Skills: Good oral expression and comprehension (communicate through speech so others will understand and listen to and understand information and ideas presented through speech); Good written expression and comprehension (communicate in English through writing so others will understand and read and understand information and ideas presented in English through writing); Proactive problem solving
Abilities: Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify non-conforming conditions in equipment and product; Manual and finger dexterity (ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects); Ability to make precisely coordinated movements; Ability to work in multiple software systems, including time entry, data entry, on-line training PDM and MRP systems; Ability to think analytically and provide constructive feedback

Essential Functions:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues in production test operations through completion
Perform all testing operations within assigned functional area
Certify as a Crane Designated Quality Assurance Inspector to perform product inspections as required
Create non-conformance reports including detailed description of testing performed, resulting failure and initial root cause investigation results
Interpret and work in accordance with work orders, and engineering drawings, functional and acceptance test procedures, failure reports, manuals and all other applicable engineering and production specifications
Calibrate or otherwise adjust assigned units by such means as potentiometer adjustment, clocking or other positioning, shimming, tension or coil adjustments, bearing and gear adjustments, as appropriate for specific unit; Make required mathematical calculations for voltage, resistance, current, impedance, amplification, flow rate and mass, mechanical dimensions and adjustments
Perform automated testing and performance testing using a variety of automated testing equipment and special test console to simulate in-service specifications, including but not limited to: vibe, burn in, thermal cycle and leak test, or hydraulic testing
Perform manual testing involving setup, adjustment, operation and interpretation of results from standard and special purpose test equipment, applicable to assigned product area, such as differential and multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, bridges, oscilloscopes, altitude chamber, flow meter and hi-pot, or hydraulic valves
Test units in other programs not normally worked on, and units of greater complexity under close supervision
Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy
Supports Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI's, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
Flexible and willing to work overtime as necessary
Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Duties & Responsibilities
Inspects machine and equipment used to ensure safe mechanical operation. Makes minor maintenance repairs and reports any maintenance or safety problems that require corrective action.
Determines the size of wire to be run and verifies that machine dies are the correct sizes. Checks dies with micrometer for accuracy and replaces worn dies as needed. Checks rod or breakdown wire to conform with requirements and places in proper position on poles, stands, or flippers, using a forklift when necessary. Cuts tie wires, straightens tangled coils, and breakdown wire if a new setup is required; otherwise, welds the top of new material to the bottom of the material running out. Threads pointed end through die and around block in accordance with standard procedure or as directed by Supervisor. Strings up machine in prescribed manner.
Checks wire size and adjusts die boxes to obtain proper cast and cuts test samples. Gauges wire with micrometer, operates tensile and torsion machine to test samples, and records test data on form. Checks optical temperatures and wire speeds. Checks weights of carriers or spools on special length jobs.
Checks wire tolerances after each spool, respool, or coil and sample. Records wire diameters on appropriate paperwork.
Repairs all breaks, exercising good judgment. Sets counter to prescribed count or standard setting. Changes heads, bonnets, pins and shafts, if necessary. Cleans water lines, steam nozzles, water jets, and water drains as needed. Maintains proper lubricants in all die boxes and replenishes as needed.
Removes spool or coil from the machine, replaces empty spool, starts machine, and ties up bundle or spool. Ensures that all material is properly tagged and placed on proper pallets or skids.
Checks machines, tools, and auxiliary equipment to be sure they are operating efficiently and safely. Performs minor maintenance to correct problems and ensures maintenance is notified of problems requiring corrective action.
Regularly performs safety inspections in the area and corrects problems where possible. Reports other problems to maintenance or Supervisor for corrective action. Responsible for housekeeping in the area.
Ensures all material is packaged according to customer specifications and is prepared for shipment. Loads and unloads trucks and keeps material in a neat and orderly manner. Inspects forklifts daily and logs inspection on proper form. Monitors and maintains proper fluid and fuel levels as required. Operates forklifts in a safe and orderly manner.
Assures that finished products meet quality standards and specifications.
Assists other employees in work group or other work groups as needed. Responsible for the pass down of operating information, problems, etc., to co-workers on the next shift.
Performs any other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Must inspect all workmanship and special processes of an operation that was performed ensuring quality before handing into next operation.
Learns and uses microscope, basic tools, fine hand tools, epoxy/cures, inspection processes, and good soldering techniques. During assembling may perform such tasks as soldering, spot welding, and washing.
