What You Will Contribute: Job Duties: Assisting the mechanical engineering department on design projects as necessary Working directly with senior engineers and designers to learn industry practices and implement them in daily work. Checking engineering drawings, parts lists, and test sheets for accuracy and thoroughness. Creating and/or modifying component and assembly models and drawings using CAD. Conducting all design, model, and print work in PTC Creo 3.0 CAD package Conducting engineering verification testing as directed by lead engineers Organizing test data and presents reports back to the engineering team. 35% CAD modeling and print work 35% Engineering verification test support 20% Individual project 10% Additional projects, tasks, and/ or assignments as assigned Qualifications: Currently pursing Bachelor's degree or comparable experience Intermediate computer/technical skills in Microsoft products Working Conditions: Depending on the assigned department, must complete an audiogram test An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.     _Hourly Wage $30.00 | Anticipated start date of May 2026_ The SCADA Engineer Intern will support Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) essential to the operation of the member distribution electric systems. **The Impact You Will Make in This Role:** **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** **:** **Mission Critical Support:** + Assist in maintenance and recovery of reliable operation of assigned systems that are used to operate mission critical functions. + Provide support for mission critical staff and systems. + Maintain technical knowledge of diagnostic and recovery procedures. + Conduct maintenance and support activities in a manner that maximizes the availability of critical functions. + Protect the integrity and security of data, controls, applications, systems and networks, in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and DPC policies. **SCADA/EMS Support:** + Assist with ongoing projects with operations, settlements, communications, engineering, member cooperatives, and other utility organizations. + Maintain distribution control system definitions for monitoring, control, logic, and user interfaces. + Verify integrity of all functions impacted by changes. **Application Administration Support:** + Assist primary application owners with support and troubleshooting of SCADA/EMS adjacent applications, including data archives, demand response, meter reading, and energy accounting. + Maintain application definitions to meet changing operational and user requirements. + Provide instruction to users and cross-train with peers. Maintain technical and user documentation. **Other Essentials** **:** + Engage with DPC wide training opportunities including but not limited to: SCADA onboarding, Telecommunications fundamentals, Network system architecture, Windows and Linux system administration, AI tools, System security, transmission, distribution, and generation field visits. + Demonstrate integrity and high work standards as a member of the support team. + Provide remote and onsite support, occasionally traveling to offsite locations. + Escalate support and request items to appropriate technology staff or vendors when necessary, ensuring proper communication and follow-up with the customer occurs. + Build relationships with end users, IT team members, and business leaders to improve engagement and understanding of departmental roles and responsibilities. + Assist with communicating outages, maintenance, and process updates. + Participate in various projects and project tasks where appropriate. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Your Experience and Expertise:** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** : **Education & Experience** **:** + Student pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree related to Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Systems. **Required Skills** **:** + Strong organizational, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills. + Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. + Must be self‐motivated, disciplined, and able to perform job duties both independently and in a team setting. **Preferred Skills** **:** + Strong knowledge of modern software applications + Experience with a programming/scripting language (C, Python, Bash, Powershell, etc). + Experience with AI tools **Physical Demands** : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     **_Hourly Wage $30.00 | Anticipated start date of May 2026_** The Intern, Transmission Planning Engineer position will provide a current engineering student with meaningful assignments and exposure to the industry through a summer and semester of valuable work experience. Activities include assisting in the development of transmission plans to meet Dairyland's future transmission system requirements through the rebuild and replacement of existing lines, new facilities, and improved operating configurations to serve cooperative members and accommodate changes in generation. Assist in the operation and maintenance of Dairyland's Energy Management System (EMS), including but not limited to network model development and maintenance, state estimator (SE) tuning and real-time contingency analysis (RTCA) maintenance and evaluation. **The Impact You Will Make in This Role:** **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** **:** + Work with Operations and Transmission Planning Engineers to evaluate transmission line historical reliability and to prioritize transmission line projects. + Identify alternatives for providing service to areas that are served by transmission facilities that are aging, have poor reliability metrics, or suffering from inadequate capacity. + Utilize Siemens PTI Power System Simulator for Engineers (PSS/E) software to perform power flow studies, identify transmission system deficiencies and evaluate transmission system upgrade alternatives. + Support Transmission Planning Engineers as they coordinate with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) on generation studies as new generators are studied for their impacts on the transmission system. + Support transmission system data documentation maintenance such as transmission line characteristics and transmission equipment ratings documentation. + Support Transmission Planning Engineers with power flow model and Energy Management System (EMS) model maintenance as they transmission system changes. + Tuning of the State Estimator (SE) application and maintenance of the Real-Time Contingency Analysis (RTCA) application. + Support Operations Engineers with identifying and saving peak save cases on the Energy Management System (EMS) for future studies. + Communicate and coordinate with neighboring utilities and member cooperatives as necessary. + Other duties as assigned. **Your Experience and Expertise:** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:** Education & Experience: Sophomore or junior in electrical engineering, power systems emphasis preferred. Prefer student with experience in Microsoft Office Suite of applications and computer programming familiarity is also desirable. Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, and work independently with moderate supervision. General computer literacy is required and experience with Excel, Word, and Power Point is preferred. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver's License. Other Job Characteristics: Interacts regularly with other utility personnel. Moderate supervision. Team oriented, performing or supporting various tasks as assigned. Frequently fast paced and dynamic work environment.
