As an intern you will gain intensive real world, hands-on jobsite experience directly from seasoned construction professionals at Austin's Commercial construction projects. Types of paid internship offered:
Fall 2025 - Paid internship program during the fall semester.
Spring 2026 - Paid internship program during the spring semester.
Summer 2026 - This is a paid 12 weeks full-time internship program that will start on Monday, May 18, 2026 and run through Friday, August 7, 2026.

Our Interns will:
Have a hands - on career enhancing experience on heavy civil construction projects
Work and learn from experts in the business
Receive training in and use industry-specific software applications

As an employee-owner hired for an internship, you will be given the title of "Project Intern" and your duties could consist of:
Processing submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing and distributing submittals
Sending RFI's to architects and engineers
Keeping concrete, rebar, RFI, and plan logs up to date
Resolving problems generated from the plans and specifications
Establishing control points and lines using field instruments (level, theodolite, total station)
Locating embeds in the slab and verifying embed locations per approved shops
Assist in locating openings in the structure and assist in establishing vertical control for the structure
Locating other miscellaneous items in the field (curbs, inlets, etc.)
Documentation- updating and distributing construction drawings, specification, shop drawings and samples
Aiding with Quality control inspections utilizing BIM 360 field onsite
Verifying pre-pour check list and checking proper formwork framing/shoring installation per approved shops
Participating in and aiding with weekly safety meetings as requested, including writing meeting minutes
Leading project orientation and maintenance of logs
Assisting with maintaining project look ahead schedules
Assisting with trade contractor coordination and scheduling
Verifying proper construction techniques per plans and specs (raise concerns and follow through with trade until corrected)
Maintaining city inspection records and walking with Superintendent during inspections
Other miscellaneous duties as defined by the Project Manager or Superintendent
Project Interns can expect a preliminary meeting with their supervisor to discuss the goals, expectations, and desired outcomes of the internship. Employee-owners participating in an internship will be reviewed upon the completion of their internship. This review should be used as a tool to communicate the successes and learning outcomes of the internship. The supervisor will also complete any necessary paperwork that must be provided to the Project Intern's school or university.
Individuals hired as interns will be classified as Temporary employee-owners as defined in Policy A-5. Temporary employee-owners are not eligible for vacation pay, holiday pay or any of the other benefits listed in Policy A-5.
Temporary employee-owners are expected to adhere to the same policies and procedures as regular, full-time employee-owners. These policies and procedures can be found on the AustinNet under People Services, Austin Commercial.
Employee-owners that are performing an internship are expected to work a regularly-scheduled workweek of 40 hours or more (overtime will be paid for any hours in excess of 40 at a rate one and one-half times the employee-owner's regular rate).

As a Engineering Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting substation design projects across the QISG platform. What You'll Do
Assist in designing physical substation components such as yard layouts, grounding, and control building arrangements.
Support the development of protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
Help prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
Learn and apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
Participate in quality reviews and collaborate with engineers to refine designs.
Maintain project documentation and assist with engineering calculations.
Attend team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
What You'll Bring
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Interest in learning about substation components and design principles.
Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software is a plus.

Job Summary
Sundt is looking for committed engineering (Civil, Structural, and Mechanical) and construction management students within accredited Universities/colleges. The internship will provide you with unique experiences on challenging projects throughout the US while providing you the opportunity to participate in several of the activities it takes to successfully build our projects. Key Responsibilities
1. Assisting with project record keeping, preparing shop drawings, and assisting with cost control records.
2. Assisting with report preparation, safety inspections, submittal logging and processing.
3. Assisting with surveying, testing, sample collection, drawing correction and filing.
4. Assisting with time keeping and cost control, inventory control, schedule checking, subcontractor monitoring.
5. Attending bid openings, conferences, etc.; taking notes, making records, completing forms.
6. Observing and reporting results of meeting and conducting site tours for visitors .

Open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction environmental health and safety (EH&S) field. Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing EH&S programs on construction projects.
Preferred candidates should be pursuing a degree in environmental health and safety management or a closely related field of study.
* Assignments include office and job site; relocation to a remote site may be required.
* Transportation is required.
* Work periods are 10-12 weeks; 40 hours/week.
* Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Intern Job Description
Reporting Relationship: Interns will report to a EH&S Manager.
Tasks Assigned: You will be learning the environmental health and safety management aspects of the construction project in the field. Your experience will include some or all the following:
* Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
* Assist in performing regular job site inspections to identify, document and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions and verify correction actions s have been completed.
* Assist in evaluating various planning/permits such as: Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Steel Erection, Energized Work, Pre-cast Tilt-Up as examples for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques.
* Assist in incident investigations to include interviews, data compilation, photographs and completing proper documentation.
Working Conditions
* Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions jobsite settings requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
* Work hours will be determined at the Project or work assignment basis.
* Noise level varies based on location.
* Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
* Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
* Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
Education
Candidates should be in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, engineering technology or construction management, construction technology.
Technical Capabilities
You should be familiar with the following software: Primavera, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, etc.
The Company's pay ranges are dependent on a number of factors including but not limited to role, previous internships with the Company, education experience, and location. The pay range listed is subject to change at any time, in the Company's discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship. Who We're Looking For:
We're seeking a motivated Field Engineer Intern to assist and support the Superintendent and job site team in obtaining, evaluating, and coordinating all information needed to make sure project specifications are met. This will include accordance with the contract documents, assuring all work meets safety standards, schedule, and budget requirements. Successful candidates will be able to share their passion for and dedication to getting the job done and confidently represent the firm, including committing the firm on schedule and cost matters within approved parameters.
What You'll Do:
Our new Field Engineer Intern will Coordinate punch list completion system and provide client with “wish list” and good faith gestures for white glove customer service. MCN Field Engineer interns maintain, clean, and organize equipment and office files; assists with maintenance of project documents including posting drawings with design changes and documentation of as-built field conditions. Field Engineer interns also engage in site layout, cost estimating, construction planning, scheduling, material procurement, quality control, and job site safety. If you are motivated by working efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with multiple project relationships and competing priorities, this may be the perfect fit for you.
