Assist in maintaining inventory on consumables. Creates and models a culture of “safety first”, trains others, and ensures that all associates who work or enter the warehouse follow Company safety rules. Documents all materials pulled using the IMS process. Comprehends and utilizes the proper tagging process. Understands the use of “Heat” and “Lot” numbers and properly identifying and handling related materials Keeps all material of the same grade kept together. Is knowledgeable of and institutes proper packaging procedures required for different types of materials. Follows through on work orders to ensure that correct material is pulled and processed in conjunction with special instructions. Interacts and communicates with customers and fellow associates in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a clean warehouse environment by ensuring that proper housekeeping is followed during the shift and effectively coordinated between shifts. Follows Company protocols assisting in the investigation and documentation of all safety incidents including workers' compensation accidents, near-misses, driver accidents and incidents, and accidents involving customers. Conducts brief (three minute) safety coaching sessions on an occasional basis at the direction of the Shift Supervisor. Processes ORD paperwork to include material certificates (MTR), certificates of compliance (C of Cs) and any other customer requests. Train associates in all aspects of warehouse operations. Identifies and properly handles brokered items, customer dedicated materials, and buy-outs. Reads and follows through on work orders to ensure that correct material is properly loaded on Company vehicles. Assist other departments as needed. Assists other associates with stocking materials. Fills in for shift supervisors on a temporary basis when needed. Updates the location of materials in IMS System when materials are moved. Efficiently handles sheet material and safely operates cutting equipment. Inspects product to meet s quality requirements and customer requests. Disseminates critical information regarding safety concerns, associate issues, customer service, and equipment matters to management and team members in a timely manner. Conducts and documents monthly safety inspections. Understands equipment limits, coordinating all production needs to maximize the use of saws. Processes material returns and receives all inbound material from third party delivery services, such as UPS, FedEx, and Freightliner. The Lead Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of long steel tubular products in support of outbound shipping operations. This position requires demonstrated experience operating large-capacity lift trucks (30,000 lb and above) to stage, load, and ship long-length steel tube products. The role is focused on outbound order fulfillment and inventory support. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma/GED required * Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of material handling experience in a heavy industrial or steel environment * Related experience in steel tube or pipe mills, service centers, or distribution facilities supporting outbound shipping * Proven experience handling long steel tubular products (pipe or tube) * Certification on large-capacity powered industrial lift trucks preferred * Experience with Combi-Lift side loaders a plus QUALIFICATIONS: * Ability to read and accurately follow shipping documents, load sheets, and bills of lading. * Strong attention to detail and shipment accuracy. * Demonstrated experience operating large-capacity lift trucks exceeding 30,000 lb. * Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically D365. * Ability to operate lift trucks for extended periods in an industrial environment. * Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. * Frequent climbing on and off equipment and working around long, heavy steel loads. * Ability to work overtime, and weekends as required. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Operate large-capacity industrial lift trucks (30,000 lb+ capacity) to move, stage, and load long steel tubular products for outbound shipment. * Stage customer orders according to shipping schedules, load plans, and customer requirements. * Load tube bundles onto trucks and trailers using lift trucks only, ensuring proper load balance and secure placement. * Verify material identification, bundle counts, and condition prior to shipment. * Ensure outbound shipments are accurate and comply with shipping documentation and customer specifications. * Perform outbound inventory transactions and shipment confirmations in inventory or warehouse management systems. * Conduct pre-shift and daily lift truck inspections and report mechanical or safety issues immediately. * Maintain proper stacking, clear aisles, and housekeeping in outbound staging and shipping areas. * Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and powered industrial truck requirements.
