Position Summary: The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS) at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro (A-State) seeks to hire a full-time non-tenure-track faculty as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the broad areas of Information Systems and Technology. This is a twelve-month appointment beginning on July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will lead the development of a 4-year BS program in Information Systems and Technology that will be offered face-to-face as well as through asynchronous online delivery. However, unique to this college within the university, the online students will also have the option of connecting - from a remote location - to the face-to-face lectures which will be broadcast live and archived for future access during the term. The candidate will also serve as the program director of a new stand-alone program that will report to the Dean but will partner with other programs as well as the Department of Computer Science. The initial appointment and renewal will be for three years with continuation during that period contingent on continued satisfactory performance review and continuous growth of the program. Duties & Responsibilities: * Demonstrate potential for broad-based teaching at undergraduate and graduate level in the areas of Information Systems and Technology, Applied Artificial Intelligence and Applied Cybersecurity. The candidate will be expected to engage with the Center for Teaching and Learning for continuous improvement of teaching skills. * Develop a new 4-yr BS program in Information Systems and Technology that will be offered face-to-face as well as fully online, with an embedded 2-yr AS program. Future expansion into the graduate domain by leveraging partnerships with existing graduate programs in the college will need to be part of the strategic approach to develop a BS program. * Implement inclusive and evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse population of students. * As part of the obligations, the hired candidate is also expected to mentor students, serve on various committees, and participate in recruiting and outreach activities. * Demonstrate willingness to collaborate with diverse groups of faculties. * Be involved in service at the departmental, college and university levels. * Be involved in student outreach and recruitment * Maintain normal office hours and availability with regular and reliable attendance * Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM * Additional hours as requested and/or needed About Jonesboro, Arkansas: Jonesboro is the regional hub of Northeast Arkansas for healthcare, entertainment, business, advanced manufacturing, software development, and civil engineering applications. Provide oversight and direction for the education and instruction of medical students and other health care profession students while providing mentorship and motivation for learning, research and/or scholarly activity in classroom environments, clinical settings, active learning groups, laboratory experience and research opportunities. Provide leadership in the development, delivery and evaluation of the clinical, standardized and simulated education offerings of ACHE. Clinical work, as assigned, at local hospitals, clinics, or other medical service providers for the purpose of developing and maintaining clinical skills and instructing and supervising students of the College in their clinical rotations. Responsibilities The successful candidate will: • Teach courses needed by the discipline and division, and college, which include courses in Market Research, Entrepreneurship, and Social Entrepreneurship. It may also include other courses in Marketing, Management, or other related courses in the candidate's areas of expertise. • Expand the offering of Marketing and Entrepreneurship courses and work with the division to develop and implement a major in Marketing, with a focus on quantitative and applied aspects of marketing in the context of entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and new product development. • Engage in a 21 load-hour (3/4) teaching schedule. • Work to develop experiential learning opportunities for students in the Business Administration major, Marketing program, and Social Entrepreneurship minor. This work may include work with student internships. • Contribute to the College's robust academic culture by engaging in appropriate scholarly activity and, where possible, involving and mentoring students in that agenda. Other support to students may include advising or co-advising student clubs or advising teams in student competitions. • Serve on college committees; advise Business majors; participate in recruiting activities as appropriate; engage in curricular development and assessment efforts; and engage in service with the surrounding community.
