Arthrex Manufacturing is actively searching for CNC Machine Operator II to produce quality medical instruments in accordance with Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. procedures in a safe and effective manner in order to exceed the customers' needs. This position will be for Weekend Shift (Friday through Sunday, 6 am to 6 pm). Successful candidates must possess a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of relevant CNC experience. Main Objective: To produce superior products following Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. machining processes and procedures. Responsible for set up and running machines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * With minimal supervision follow written process and operate a variety of CNC machines and special processes i.e. Work Instructions * Receives work order and verifies that the components are correct * Receives material and loads on bar feeder * Performs and records line clearance * Verifies the machine is running the correct program * Deburr parts as required * Measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications using precision measuring instruments * Interact in a Manufacturing environment with a variety of personnel and shift change over on a daily basis * Confirms that inspection process is kept at AQLS C=0 Example: check parts every 30 minutes * Maintains good quality and production output * Sort/rework parts as required * Assists out on other operations as required * Data entry in SAP system * Shows exceptional teamwork and interact in a Manufacturing environment with a variety of personnel and shift change over on a daily basis * Maintain their work area in a clean orderly condition and follows safety procedures * Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately * Performs first cut-off * Returns all axis to the home position * Stops machine to change settings, replace tools and perform tool offsets * Recommends process improvements with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems * Adjusts bar feeder for proper size of material and performs a dry run without material; verifies material against work order for correct lot number * Performs first PC inspection when back-to-back or partial set-up is completed * Adjusts tools to meet blueprint specifications. * Downloads programs to the machine, dry run machine with no material and all tools in place * Monitors screen pages and machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media; verifies the correct program in the machine is running * Perform back-to-back and partial set ups on multi axis lathes and milling machining centers; operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data * Demonstrates ability to streamline processes to increase productivity and quality * Installs and adjusts collects with proper pressure * Cleans and assembles all collect assemblies, removes or replaces fixture, collects and tools. Inspects old collects and guide brushes * Verifies correct tools against tool data sheet and program; sets up any type of tool in the pre-setter and/or machine * Notifies Crew Coordinators/Supervisors of issues/opportunities for improvements * Support machine operators as assigned by Crew Coordinators and or Supervisor Education and Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent required * 2 years of direct CNC machine experience or equivalent vocational education required Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: * CNC machines set up experience is preferred, use different types of measuring tools and perform all aspects of line clearance. * Computer literacy, basic math skills, a desire to improve in all areas, and work as part of a team committed to safety, quality, and efficiency. * Attention to detail. * Successful completion of assigned curriculum within 180 days of hire/transfer which includes completing the Fundamentals of Manufacturing. Complete and pass Metrology Course CTC-137 and CTA-082. Job Summary The Machine Builder is a highly skilled specialist responsible for the complete mechanical assembly and initial setup of custom machines, prototypes, and automated systems. This role involves building complex equipment from the ground up using detailed drawings and schematics, often for custom applications within the pharmacy's fulfillment center. The builder ensures that all assemblies meet precise engineering specifications, function as intended, and are ready for integration into the production environment. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems and a commitment to precision and quality. Key Responsibilities Perform the complete mechanical assembly of custom machines, automated packaging systems, and conveyor modules from individual components and sub-assemblies. Read and interpret complex assembly drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), bill of materials (BOM), and 3D CAD models to guide the build process. Fit, align, and adjust mechanical components to achieve precise tolerances and ensure smooth, reliable operation of the final machine. Use a wide range of tools, including precision hand tools, torque wrenches, and specialized equipment for pressing, drilling, and riveting. Collaborate closely with Design Engineers and Maintenance Planners to provide feedback on part design, manufacturability, and assembly sequence, suggesting improvements for efficiency and reliability. Conduct initial power-up and basic functional testing of completed machines to verify build quality and conformance to design specifications before handover to the maintenance or operations team. Identify and troubleshoot fit-up, alignment, and functional issues during the build process, resolving them proactively. Fabricate or modify components as needed using basic machining skills (e.g., drilling, tapping, grinding) to ensure proper fit and function. Maintain meticulous documentation of the build process, including any deviations from plans and parts used. Adhere to all safety standards during the assembly process, particularly during the handling of heavy components and initial machine testing. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required A technical certificate or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or a related field is highly preferred. 2-5 years of experience in a machine building, precision assembly, or custom fabrication role, preferably in an industrial, automation, or manufacturing setting. Basic English with the ability to read and write. Skills & Abilities: Mastery in interpreting complex mechanical drawings, assembly diagrams, and GD&T symbols. Exceptional skill in aligning, leveling, and assembling components to very tight tolerances. Expert-level proficiency with a comprehensive set of hand, power, and precision measuring tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address build challenges and ensure the final product functions as designed. A deep understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, forces, and material properties. Meticulous attention to detail to ensure every part of the assembly is correct and secure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Completes paperwork as required and initiates purchase order request forms for parts and supplies. Develops inventory program to ensure tooling is in excellent working condition at all times, including maintenance and storage, and that tooling is checked out and signed in according to guidelines. Works with tooling vendors to optimize tooling inspection process while developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Remains current with advancements in technology and tooling design to ensure operational excellence. Qualifies as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in tooling installation, cleaning, and disassembly of manufacturing and other equipment as assigned. Accurately identifies unacceptable tooling prior to use and determines root cause of damage and corrective action to prevent future damage. Optimizes cleaning procedures used for tooling including detergents, cleaning equipment, storage, and handling. Develops polishing program to keep tooling in excellent working condition at all times. Determines inspection requirements for tablet and encapsulation tooling including frequency, procedures, verification, tracking, and refurbishing or disposal as needed. Creates and maintains Identification System to track tooling and keep sets labeled and complete at all times. Performs tooling inspection and tooling matching for tablet press and encapsulate tooling to ensure all tooling is in proper serviceable condition and that all tooling is matched set to achieve equal tableting compression force and/or optimal performance of the capsule filling process.
