Qualifications To be successful in these roles, you will have: * The ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. * High School Diploma or GED. * The ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation, and pass a drug screening. * The ability to obtain a Firewatch and Cable Installer certification. * 2 years of Shipboard experience. * 2 years of combined experience in the following areas: * Ability to bolt/unbolt cableways, deck plates & equipment * Drill holes (with supervision) * Operate light machinery/ equipment (with training) * Position, join, align, wrap & seal pipe & conduit sections * Ability to follow directions of senior employees * Carry equipment & clean spaces * Remove lagging & paint * The ability to Identify safety concerns in immediate work environment * Sound technical knowledge base of discipline's standard concepts, principles, and techniques. * The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. * The ability and bewilling to travel up to 10% to various work sites. * The ability to work independently, in a team environment and under stressful conditions with tight deadlines. * The ability to work in Newport News, VA.
