We are currently seeking to hire a Production Assembly Associate at our location in Michigan City, Indiana.
Position Summary
Responsible for assembling purchased parts and the various pieces that go together to form a finished product. The assembly associate will use various hand tools and power tools, in conjunction with their hands, to complete the job.
Tools: Hand tools; screwdrivers, wrenches / sockets, wire strippers / crimpers, tape measure.
Power Tools; drills, grinders, belt sander, band saw, and power riveter
Responsibilities
· Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint/wiring specifications, and bills of material; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Install parts and subassemblies by assembly drawings/on job training.
· Assemble components by examining connections for correct and proper fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Resolve assembly problems: notify line supervisor to obtain additional resources/direction.
· May train co-workers in production assembly.
· May be required to complete production documentation.
· Required to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Vanair procedures, rules, and regulations.

SCHEDULE
Full-time, temporary Assembler with the potential for permanent hire. Monday - Friday, afternoon shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM).
Must be flexible/available to work overtime as needed or as required.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Visually inspects parts prior to assembly to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Sets up/prepares jobs for assembly, including checking part availability on computer and obtaining parts from ASRS as needed.
Uses assembly tooling designed for the assigned cells. For example, presses, drill machines, testing fixtures, assembly fixtures etc.
Assembles sub-assemblies and finished goods and uses Loctite, grease, epoxy etc. as specified per assigned work instructions.
Assembles products to special handling instructions as required.
Thoroughly cleans and prepares product surface for labeling using acetone. Makes sure proper labeling is applied per bill of materials.
Maintains and cleans work area, including removing trash, wiping down tabletops, and cleaning floor.
Trains, assists, and helps oversee work of new employees as needed.
Periodically builds product models for new/redesigned products.
Wet tests finished products to ensure proper operation and absence of leakage per testing instructions. Tags product and records testing results.
Programs and tests electronics per testing instructions.
Reworks failed products as necessary.
Assembles polypacks to finished goods prior to sending to shipping.
Cleans and maintains test tanks. Maintains water level in test tank.
Maintains communication with Engineering Department regarding product performance problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience using hand tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for long periods of time, lift/carry/push objects weighing 50 pounds, crouch/kneel, bend, reach, and handle/grasp objects.
Positive attitude with a bias for action.

Are you passionate about assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our ME Switchgear Assembly team. As an assembler, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. In this job you will assemble medium voltage switchgear, both standard and custom units. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity, and must meet requirements within time constraints. Initially, you will be assigned to one station but you will need to be flexible and open to working additional stations as business needs require.
Tasks require a high degree of eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range motion. You will frequently use hand and power tools; occasionally work while standing on ladders; and occasionally work inside tight compartments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform basic electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and labeling wires according to schematics and assembly instructions.
Mount components and route/secure cables as needed.
Conduct buffing, grinding, and other clean-up of machined parts and components.
Inspect components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring, according to quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
Use an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist.
Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards, including the use of lifting devices and other ergonomic or safety devices when required.
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
Seek clarification when instructions or processes are not understood.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

What you'll Need To Succeed:
0-1 year of experience in mechanical or electrical assembly, which can include personal or hobby experience. Must have a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products. Ability to use basic shop math and measuring tools such as tape measures.
Ability to use and stand on a ladder while performing assemblies and using hand tools.
Ability to use air impact tools and other hand-held tools.
Ability to follow specific instructions and procedures and read assembly prints.
Major Physical Demands:
Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5lbs. to 50 lbs.
Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1/8 mile).
Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 25 lbs.
Pushing: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
Pulling: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to complete the assembly tasks.
Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in size from 5 lbs. to 25 lbs., along with a variety of hand-tools.
